Turkish actress, Hande Erçel, who is well known for her work in The Daughters Of The Sun, recently found herself at the center of an unexpected controversy, involving the global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. The issue began at the Joy Awards 2026, held in Saudi Arabia. After the event, a social media post claimed that the actress called SRK an 'uncle'. However, Hande Erçel has revealed the truth behind the viral claim.
Recently, Shah Rukh Khan, Hande Erçel and many more global celebrities attended the Joy Awards 2026, which was held in Saudi Arabia. Soon after the event ended, a user took to their X handle (formerly Twitter) and shared that Turkish actress, Hande Erçel failed to recognise SRK on stage and called him an uncle. The post can be read as:
"Shah Rukh Khan went to host the Joy Awards 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A clip of Turkish actress Hande Erçel went viral in which SRK was on stage. News was made that Hande is a fangirl of SRK, but she denied even knowing SRK and referred to him as uncle. A total PR failure."
However, a while ago, the actress, Hande Erçel took to her X handle to shut down all the rumours. She reshared the post on her social media and revealed that everything is fake. The actress confirmed that there is no truth in the screenshot of an Instagram Story and the claim around calling SRK ‘uncle’. She had penned:
"This is fake."
As soon as Hande Erçel put an end to the viral claims on social media, a lot of social media users came in support of her. While some called the entire incident ‘embarrassing’, others hailed her for maintaining her calm and putting an end to the rumours. One user commented, "So Embarassing .... sorry on behalf of these Clowns. Love from India @HandeErcel huge fan of yours. your grace, strength and talent shine in everything you do. Another user wrote, "So sorry you had to go through inconvenience because of such people." A third user penned, "Thnk u so much u clarify, i also checked your insta story but I didn't found anything bu***it like this." A fourth user commented, "SRK haters use everyone and everything to spread lies about him to insult him. Thank you for stepping in and putting a stop to this hate campaign." A user also shared:
"Imagine waking up daily just to lie about SRK and still getting fact checked by the person you dragged into it, respect to Hande Erçel for calling out fake narratives. Some people need politics to stay relevant, SRK needs none."

However, she rose to fame with Sunshine Girl. Later, she earned global recognition with her character, 'Hayat Uzun' in Ask Laftan Anlamaz. Apart from this, she also worked in multiple films.
