A while ago, Gracie Hunt opened up about her engagement with Derek Green and explained that it has a connection with her fiance's name.
Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Clark Hunt, the owner of the team, Kansas City Chiefs has officially started the new chapter of her life with former NFL player, Derek Green. For the unversed, the two recently exchanged rings in an intimate ceremony attended by only close friends and family. Well, now Gracie had a conversation with People, during which she revealed the meaningful thought behind her engagement ring.
Recently, Gracie Hunt sat down for a candid conversation with People Magazine, during which she shared an interesting detail about her engagement ring, given by her longtime partner, Derek Green. For the unversed, Gracie’s engagement ring includes a central stone and two emerald stones besides it. Sharing the reason behind it, Gracie Hunt was quoted as saying:
"Derek included two green emeralds, one on either side of the center stone as a subtle nod to his last name, Green, which I think is such a thoughtful and personal touch."
Further, she also revealed another reason why her ring is special. Gracie Hunt stated that the band is special because it reminds her of her relationship with soon-to-be-husband, Derek Green. She also mentioned that one of her favourite Bible verses has been engraved inside it. In her words:
"What makes it even more sentimental is that he had one of my favorite Bible verses engraved inside the band — a constant reminder of the foundation of faith our relationship is built on."
Gracie Hunt and Derek Green have been dating for nearly a decade. After keeping their romance private and away from media attention, in 2025, Gracie Hunt hard launched their relationship on her Instagram handle. In 2026, the former NFL player popped the question to his ladylove. However, do you know that Gracie Hunt did not have any idea about the proposal? Gracie shared:
"It was absolutely magical, and I was completely surprised! We had planned the trip months in advance so everyone could spend time together over Easter. We were at a point in the relationship where I knew engagement was in our future, but I didn’t know when he would do it."
Gracie Hunt then revealed that she thought she was heading towards a family dinner; however, when she turned out, she was completely surprised by the “breathtaking setup”. Recalling the proposal, Gracie explained, "seeing Derek emotional made it even more overwhelming because it reminded me just how much this moment meant to both of us." Moments after Gracie said ‘yes’, their friends and family started cheering for them and had the best Easter night.
Derek Green is the son of former NFL star, Trent Green. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Derek played football at Southern Methodist University from 2018 to 2021. Later, he was transferred to Long Island University in 2022. However, he did not continue playing football and built a career as a sports operations manager in Kansas City. It is worth mentioning that Derek prefers to keep his personal life private.
On the other hand, Gracie Hunt is the daughter of Clark Hunt, who is the owner of Kansas City Chiefs. According to a report by People, Gracie is a model, philanthropist and a health enthusiast. Coming to her education, she has a degree in sports management and broadcast journalism. Apart from this, Gracie is close friends with global pop icon, Taylor Swift. In 2025, Gracie even spoke about the Lover singer and described her as "smart and intelligent".
