Sunita has been upfront about the actor’s extramarital affairs and has openly discussed the same during her stint on the reality show, Lock Up season 2. Now Govinda has reacted to the allegations and revealed why he takes Sunita’s abuses.
In a recent interaction with ANI, Govinda spoke about Sunita Ahuja’s allegations and her habit of hurling abuses at him. Speaking about the same, Govinda shared that despite her allegations against him, she is the one who raised their kids and their nieces and nephews. Revealing how Sunita has been instrumental in shaping his career and looking after his family, Govinda said:
"Itne pyaar se gali deti hai mujhe aur main khata bhi hoon unke haath se. I feel that wherever people are and whatever roles the Almighty has assigned them—the specific niche they occupy—we wouldn't have achieved success without them being there. We simply wouldn't be who we are. She has a rightful claim over the many children in our family who have now grown up. She was also kind to them.”
In the same interaction, Govinda also revealed how Sunita gained publicity after speaking negatively about him. The actor pointed out how many things remain unexpressed in a relationship. Revealing how badmouthing is easy and how Sunita handles it, Govinda expressed:
“Is it essential to bad mouth your own people to gain success? That is a bit easy. Sunita does it tactfully. She offers four words of praise or perhaps the praise comes naturally and then voices a criticism. I see more love in that."
In one of the episodes of Lock Up Season 2, Sunita spoke to fellow contestant Shreya Kalra, and soon the conversation turned emotional for her as she spoke about her relationship with Govinda. During the conversation, Sunita revealed feeling cheated in her marriage and revealed that infidelity has been a part of her life since her marriage, as she said, ‘Chi Chi had so many affairs in his life; well, heroes and heroines do have such things.’
When Shreya asked Sunita whether she is still hurt, the latter replied, 'It is fine, I live for my kids.’ Going further in the conversation, Shreya asked Sunita whether Govinda was still being unfaithful towards Sunita, to which the star wife replied:
“Tum rok sakte ho kisi ko? Main sochti hi nahi hoon.”
The rumours about Govinda and Sunita’s divorce started in 2024 after reports surfaced that the actor's wife had filed for divorce at the Bandra family court. She moved the case under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion as grounds. Later, Govinda’s team rubbished the reports, and the couple was also seen celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi together while greeting the media.
In a vlog, Sunita interacted with Sambhavna Seth and talked about various aspects of her life. During one of their interaction, Sunita opened up about the rumours of Govinda’s affair and took a dig at struggling actresses looking for ‘sugar daddies’ to settle their lives.
