Does 'Nancy' die in Stranger Things Season 5 Part 2?

One question that has been surfacing since the release of Volume 2 of Season 5 of Stranger Things is whether 'Nancy' has died. To answer in simple terms, she and 'Jonathan' did not actually die, but there had been two times where they were very close and faced a near-death experience, leading people to think that the beloved couple was almost dead. It so happened that with 'Eleven' and 'Hooper' trying to rescue 'Kali', 'Steve', 'Dustin', 'Jonathan', and 'Nancy' were out in the Upside Down. The team was divided into two groups, 'Nancy-Jonathan' and 'Steve-Dustin'.

Both teams found it hard to get along with 'Nancy' and 'Jonathan', who already had relationship issues. 'Dustin' felt that to shield the wall of Upside Down, 'Venca' must have done some trick, something like a generator, and he believed that destroying that could help them to save 'Holly' and reach 'Venca'. As they started to find ways to destroy the barrier, 'Nancy' and 'Jonathan' fought, and at a point, she was left alone.

'Jonathan' found a door, and 'Nancy' followed, as they ended up in a melted place. As 'Nancy' found something flashing, she shot a fire. By then, 'Dustin' realised that it's not a generator that shields the barrier, but there must be something more dangerous, leading him to warn 'Nancy' and 'Jonathan'. However, with 'Nancy' shooting at the shepere, a ripple was created and she and 'Jonathan' were thrown off the roof to the ground, at a point leading people to think that they passed away. Well, they woke up later. There was a second time, when 'Nancy' and 'Jonathan' faced a near-death experience again when the room was filled with a white goo. Well, it led the duo to open up about their relationship, showing 'Jonathan' pulling out a ring. Well, the goo hardens, leaving the couple in another sort of experience, but they were later saved by 'Steve' and 'Dustin'.

Are 'Nancy' and 'Jonathan' engaged, or did the duo just break up?

Well, there's something unexpected that is coming as well, as confirmed by the creators. In one of the episodes, we could see 'Jonathan' and 'Nancy' opening up emotionally as they were stuck in the room filled with white goo. 'Jonathan' pulled out a ring and made an 'un-proposal' as he said that he thought just for once, and for the last time, if he could do it right, making people think he was proposing. Well, if that was straight enough. 'Jonathan' proposed with the line, 'Nancy Wheeler, will you not marry me?' Yes! That's the first sign. On the other hand, Matt Duffer told PEOPLE recently that 'Jonathan' and 'Nancy' aren't engaged; they actually broke up. He said:

"That's a breakup. They are broken up. It's hard to recall when exactly that idea came, but I think us — and the writers — all felt that Nancy needed to end up on her own and be independent and have an opportunity to find herself."

Does 'Steve' die in Stranger Things Season 5?

Well, people thought that one of the major characters would be killed off in the season finale. When he was with 'Dustin' in the Upside Down, there was one moment when he tried to escape a collapsing floor. Well, had 'Steve' not listened to 'Dustin', he could have possibly died, and that might have haunted the viewers. But well, 'Steve' hasn't died, prompting people to still wonder if there would be a death of a massive character in the show.
