For those unaware, in the past few months, she has faced tremendous backlash due to her alleged affair with Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel, which even led her to resign from her job as an insider for The Athletic. Now, new reports suggest that she had lied about Facetiming another head coach, the Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell, to get out of a ticket for texting while driving.
It is worth noting that Kevin is a married man. And given Dianna had an alleged affair with Mike when he was also married, the focus has now shifted to Kevin’s wife, Leah O’Connell.
According to reports, Kevin O’Connell’s wife, Leah O'Connell, was born on October 24, 1986 and was raised in Independence, Missouri. She went to college at San Diego State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication. During these years, she was a part of the Aztecs’ volleyball team, where she also served as a team captain.
Compared to her husband’s highly publicised NFL journey, Leah has always preferred to maintain a low-profile. Those close to her have noted that she is supportive, grounded, and family-oriented. From the time Kevin was an NFL quarterback to when he became the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, she has been by his side through it all.
Online reports suggest that Leah O'Connell has carved out a long-term career in sales at Panacea Scientific. Alongside her sales role, she has worked as a fitness professional at The Bay Club Company since 2013. This reflects her passion for health and wellness.
Kevin O'Connell and his wife, Leah’s love story began when they were both student-athletes at San Diego State University. After their paths first crossed in athletic circles, they began spending a lot of time together during practice and at training facilities, which led them to grow close super quickly.
After they began dating, Kevin and Leah tied the knot in 2010, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership. Over the years, they have welcomed four children together. This includes their sons, Kaden and Kolten, and daughters, Quinn and Callie. Interestingly, their youngest, Callie, was born right in the middle of Kevin’s first season as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, in November 2022.
A video has been making the rounds on the internet which shows the bodycam footage from when Dianna Russini was pulled over by a police officer for using her phone while driving in New Jersey. In the clip, Dianna introduced herself as the NFL journalist who had just broke a story about Buffalo Bills coach, Sean McDermott getting fired. She told the police officer that she was just sending out a tweet before she got stopped.
While handing over her vehicle’s licence and registration, she questions the officer about whether he is a Giants or Jets fan. When he replies that he is actually a Vikings fan, Dianna proceeds to show him a text exchange between her and Vikings coach, Kevin O'Connell. This helped her get away without receiving a traffic ticket.
While the incident happened in January 2026, a month later, in February, when Dianna appeared on the radio show, Stugotz and Company, she claimed that she had FaceTimed with Kevin when the officer pulled her over. Now that the bodycam footage has revealed she was lying, it has once again opened her to being on the receiving end of criticism.
Taking to social media, one user wrote, “The bodycam footage makes this impossible to spin…The odd part is she had an ESPN mic, an Athletic byline, and a Rolodex full of head coaches, yet her move was to try and name-drop her way out of a traffic stop…Curious if her editors at the Athletic even knew she was FaceTiming head coaches on off hours.” Another wrote, “The one-sided texts make it legit cringe. Dude didn't even reply, and she's out here acting like they're tight on bodycam.”
