'Dhurandhar' has been making headlines across the country. While the team is ecstatic about the film's immense success, the film's composer has some regrets.
Dhurandhar has surpassed every expectation of fans; while some called it the best work of Bollywood, others were stunned by the cast's impeccable performances. However, while the film has been monumentally successful, breaking records set by some of the biggest films in Bollywood history, the film's music composer, Shashwat Sachdev, has revealed that there are certain things he wishes he could have improved.
In a candid conversation with MensXP, Shashwat Sachdev was asked about his favourite song from the Dhurandhar album. To which he revealed that he doesn't have one right now. He shared that there are so many "retrospective conversations" and the album is still too new. He added:
"It's too fresh, so I don't have a like, okay, I like this more than I like even in fact, I right now, I only have like a little bit of critique and complaints from things. That I could have done, but I could not because of a lack of time, and I know there are things I could have fixed. Monica, my favourite song on the album, towards the end, you know? I wish I had finished it better, but yes, it was among my favourite songs."
In the same conversation, Shashwat Sachdev also discussed whether he had any regrets about the album. To which he shared that if they had more time, he would have added more songs to the tracklist. He compared Dhurandhar's records to the work he had done on Article 370 and shared:
"But there was no time for me to, you know, finish them for like an album, because an album song needs to sound like a proper song, you know, yeah, but in the film they were more in a score format. Yeah, so that I wanted to do what else. I liked the music of Article 370, I feel that that is more complete for me, it is more, I'm more satisfied with that music than I am with Dhurandhar, because I feel that Dhurandhar was done in quite a hurry."
Further in the conversation, Shashwat Sachdev was asked about the rationale for Dhurandhar being a 'psychological space' and needing more 'sound language'. Sashwat Sachdev revealed that Aditya Dhar planned everything. He added that Dhurandhar was Aditya's baby, while the album was his. He was quoted as saying:
"Haan, so that is me. I'm just generally a little more chaotic, I'm just generally a little more unabashed. Maybe that is, if there is anything there that resonates with these words, that is me, but if you see the discipline and the soundscape, if you see the discipline or the decisiveness of how the album sounds like or it has like one spread of sound, I will not cut one mark from it."
When asked about Dhurandhar 2, Shashwat revealed that, given how Aditya weaves the story, it's a no-brainer that the sequel would be equally as good. He further noted that the film had a massively unnoticed genius, he said, "an appreciated genius for Shivkumar Panicker, the editor of the film. He's the true MVP on the film that goes so unnoticed." Shashwat Sachdev concluded by saying that Dhurandhar was 110 per cent Aditya Dhar's creation. He revealed that Aditya had told him that he didn't need a score, but the core needs to be underlying in the film, and the music to be woven in a way that it feels like a musical.
