One of the biggest controversies the couple faced was when Julie Andrews' step-granddaughter, Kayti Edwards, accused him of getting intimate with her, despite being a committed man.
Dax Shepard reportedly dated Kayti Edwards briefly in 2005, but the relationship faded away when she moved to Hawaii. She later claimed they reignited old flames in 2009 and had a steamy night while he was two years into his relationship with Kristen Bell. Former model Kayti told the Daily Mail that their reconnection took place at a private party in LA and accused Dax of hiding the fact that he was dating his now-wife, Kristen Bell.
Kayti claimed she became physically intimate with Dax twice at the party, and she even shared a bunch of intimate photos with Daily Mail TV, which were taken in a photo booth. In the pictures, she and Dax Shepard were seen locking lips and passionately making out at the Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa.
Speaking about the alleged encounter, Kayti said that 'it was just a brief thing' and they hooked up here and there, and 'had a little friendship.' However, she maintained that she got into the situation without knowing that he was dating Kristen Bell. Detailing what allegedly went down that night, Kayti Edwards stated:
"We went back and made love; we had s-- twice, and he stayed until the next morning. I didn't know he had a girlfriend at the time; he didn't seem to care."
Kayti Edwards went on to share what drew her to Dax when they first met in 2005 and started dating. She said that she was attracted to his 'confidence', his 'goofy' and 'funny' side, and felt comfortable around him. In her words:
"He makes you feel comfortable, and he's not one of those, you know, standoffish celebrity guys. He's just a normal person, but he's funny. I was attracted to his confidence."
Dax Shepard strongly denied Kayti Edwards' claim that they slept together in 2009 behind Kristen Bell's back, clarifying that their actual brief romance as well as the intimate photos were from 2005, long before his relationship with Kristen Bell began. As the media outlet published the photos and wrote about his alleged infidelity in 2018, he commented, 'Hey Daily Mail, that photo is 13 years old, not 9.'
He went on to allege that Kayti Edwards was trying to frame him just as she did with other celebrities. Name-dropping her alleged victims, he claimed that she has 'sold stories to tabloids about Matthew Perry, Jack Osbourne, Kid Rock, and now me.' He jovially added, 'I look forward to her next one. Fingers crossed it's about my #1, Brad Pitt'
