Witney Carson slammed the 'lame scores' she and her dance partner, Guillermo Rodriguez, got at the premiere performance of 'DWTS'. She also shared her take on the show.

This season, there was a split premiere: September 15, 2026 featured all the male participants, and September 16, 2026 introduced all the female celebrities on the show. On both days, the episodes aired live on ABC and Disney+, and viewers are already glued to their screens with the performances from the celebrities and their choreographers.
On September 15, 2026, Conner Leavitt and Adele Zaikman had to be eliminated after they performed a Salsa. They scored 12; however, it was not the lowest score of the night. Witney Carson and Guillermo Rodriguez performed Cha-Cha to Jean Knight's Mr. Big Stuff. As the elimination also depends on the audience voting, despite getting the lowest score of the night, Witney and Guillermo were not eliminated. Witney called the scores 'lame' soon after. And now, she shared her take on the show, Dancing With The Stars.
Witney Carson and Guillermo Rodriguez received 10 out of 30 from the judges after their performance on premiere night 1. Speaking about the same, Witney, who is competing with Rodriguez, said to Us Weekly that they worked really hard for it.
Obviously, getting the lowest score after working this hard was disappointing for both Witney and Guillermo; however, what the pro-dancer was proud of was how her partner was following her lead and continued to work on it. She agreed that there were some moments where things seemed off; however, she felt that Rodriguez got right back on track and listened to whatever she had to say. She felt that scores by the judges were 'lame', and speaking about the same, Witney shared:
"He followed my lead and he performed and he had fun, so honestly, that’s all I can ask for. I’m so proud. The judge’s scores were lame.”
Rodriguez isn't happy about the low score either; however, what matters to him is that he passed the first week. He revealed that he followed what his choreographer had to say. He felt like being at home and had to listen and follow what his coach had to say. Thus, even though he and his partner got the lowest marks, what matters to him is that they have passed the first week.
Witney, who is expecting her third child with Carson McCallister, recently shared an IG story as well, where she shared her take on ABC's show, DWTS. According to the pro-dancer, 'it's not a dance competition'.
The choreographer explained that if it were a 'competition', then each of the celebrities would have come with the same experience. On the same note, she talked about the voting. She said, 'it's not fair,' and that's the point. Speaking more about the same, Witney shared:
"This is not a dance competition. Yes, of course, us pros take pride in, like, making the best dance possible, and we want our celebrities to become better. If it were truly a dance competition, every single celebrity would come into the competition with the same level of dance experience. So it isn’t fair, and that’s the point. The point is to vote for your favorite, and that’s why the voting system is in place. So, just wanted to give my two cents. Remember, it is [to] vote for your favorite. If you love to watch dance and you love to watch good dancing, that’s what you’re gonna vote for.”
For the unversed, Witney announced her third pregnancy last month on Good Morning America. She is now four months pregnant and will be competing in season 35 of the ABC show. Speaking to Page Six, she said that this season, she is all about empowerment, while adding that being a good mom is her No. 1 priority.
