While the news of the duo’s marriage has started trending everywhere, Brooks and Katrin’s romance has come into the spotlight again.
Brooks Laich and Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir first went public with their relationship in August 2021. Laich, a former Canadian NHL forward, said that he became aware of Katrin after watching her compete at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games in Madison.
Brooks spoke to the media about her performance, saying that he was proud of the work she had put in to get there and calling her one of the greatest competitors he had ever met. He also said that he planned to be there to support her the next time she competed. For the next few years, they kept a relatively low profile while building their life together.
Laich had previously been married to Julianne Hough from 2017 to 2020, and his divorce was finalized in 2022. His relationship with Katrin continued steadily after that. In December 2024, after about three years of dating, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram. They even share an age gap of ten years, as Laich was 42 and Katrin was 32.
In May 2025, the pair said that they were expecting their first child together. The duo called it the “greatest blessing.” They welcomed a daughter, Emberly Heba Laich, in October 2025. The couple announced the arrival of their child with a series of photos and a message that said their hearts were overflowing with love. They even said that becoming parents had been the greatest gift they could have imagined.

The weekend-long celebration drew about 110 guests, most of whom traveled in, and included a welcome party on August 14, 2026, at Elk Point, a wedding ceremony on the lawn, and a ‘50s-themed beach brunch on August 16, 2026.
They kept the event intimate with family and close friends. Guests included Laich’s family from Canada and Davidsdottir’s family from Iceland and London, which made it feel like a destination wedding. The event designer and planner, Tim Mitchell, was also a longtime friend.
The welcome party featured florals, games, toasts, and dinner. For the ceremony, guests arrived by boat and sat on the lawn with the lake and pines behind the couple as they exchanged personal vows, which Laich described as one of the greatest moments of his life.
Dinner was held on two floating barges and included peach salad, bread, and surf and turf. Dessert was huckleberry crisp instead of cake. Later there was pizza, a candy bar with treats from Iceland and Canada, and dancing on a checkered floor to a live band. The couple’s first dance was to the same song used for their proposal. Davidsdottir also shared a dance with her 85-year-old grandfather.
