While her fans are in awe of Lisa's new single, it ended up creating controversy when a Syrian artist instantly called out Lisa's creative team, claiming that her original content has been copied in Lisa's recent music video. In her recent music video, Lisa was seen wearing a 'coined headphone,' a type of headpiece.
Following the release of the single, a London-based Syrian artist and designer Zeina took to her social media handle and dropped a post, claiming that the 'coined headphone' was her original idea and creation. According to Zeina, who is a designer, it was her original creative work, for which she took inspiration from her Arab heritage.
Sharing the social media post, Zeina added that what Lisa wore in SaWaDika was a 'replica' of her creation, and thus, she should have been credited for the same. She questioned Lisa's team's decision not to credit her, with her main concern being that her creative idea was linked to her cultural background.
No sooner had Zeina posted content about her 'coined headphone' than netizens bombarded the comment section with their opinions, calling Lisa's piece a replica. Most users called out Lisa's creative team for not crediting the designer for her original work; others also noted that credit should always be given to the artists when their work is used for visual representation.
However, after Lisa's post went viral, she shared additional information, stating that she was contacted by visual artist Hathairat NAN NIST Permpoon (IG: @nanist). Zeina revealed that she had been credited for the inspiration sketches for the coined headphone concept.
Zeina went on to reveal that she had no intention of attacking Lisa and that it wasn't her fault to begin with; however, an artist of an original work should always get credit for their work. Zeina also clarified that she didn't intend to bash any creative team. The designer's only concern was to be credited for her work, which, according to her, others can copy or imitate but can't replicate organically.
