American professional basketball player Bam Adebayo is one of the most popular names in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has set many records to his name and is also a gold medalist on the 2020 and 2024 U.S. Olympic teams. The Miami Heat star is in a serious relationship with WNBA star, A’ja Wilson and the two have been head over heels in love with one another.
A’ja Wilson is open about her love for her ‘life partner’, Bam Adebayo. She once spoke about her wish to start a family with the Miami Heat star. She also revealed that the NBA star had had such an impact on her life. In her Time Athlete of the Year cover story, the Las Vegas Aces star said they hope to start a family and added, ‘That is always a dream.’
In the same conversation, Wilson shared that her relationship with Adebayo began four years ago, even before fans started to suspect something. She also stated that Adebayo shares a great bond with her parents, as her father often calls her to speak to Adebayo, and her mom texts her back, saying, ‘Bam already told me,’ whenever she is informed of anything.
A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo have been friends "for years." They have been supporting each other’s careers and were often seen cheering for each other throughout 2023 at various games. They even attended each other's Team USA games throughout the Olympics, too. Not just this, when Wilson became the first WNBA player to score 1,000 points in a single season, Adebayo posted a sly social media post for her.
Wilson and Adebayo first sparked dating rumours after they were spotted spending time together before the 2024 Summer Olympics. After that, they have been spotted together multiple times, including a dinner date in Beverly Hills in January 2025. After months of dating speculation, Wilson confirmed her relationship with Adebayo. When PEOPLE asked whether she and her "NBA All-Star" were officially calling each other"Valentines," she replied, "I mean...."
When she was asked further about her Valentine's Day plans. She teased her fans with a hilarious response and said:
“My plans are here at NBA All-Star. My NBA All-Star is not here. Adebayo was getting the rest he needs. And that's the best Valentine gift that I can truly give him, is just the rest."
In the same months when she was honoured with a jersey retirement by her alma mater, the University of South Carolina, Wilson mentioned Adebayo. During her speech, she said:
“I wouldn't be who I am today without the love, support and sacrifices of so many people. What a blessing to have those most special to me courtside today, especially my favorite Olympian from out of town."
