Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka Actor Anuj Thakur Died Tragically At 33, 'He Had Gone To Sleep At Night...'

Television actor Anuj Thakur passed away suddenly, and his friend revealed what led to the actor's sudden death.

Television actor Anuj Thakur passed away on October 27, 2026, and his longtime friend, Rupesh Sonar, recently confirmed the news. The 33-year-old’s sudden death has shocked his fans and industry peers. Anuj was part of shows like Dhoom Machao Dhoom, Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka, Beendh Banoonga Ghodi Chadunga, and Mahisagar.

Anuj Thakur died in his sleep

In an interview with the Times of India, Rupesh Sonar spoke about Anuj Thakur’s sudden death and revealed that he met the actor ten days back. Revealing how he was shocked to learn about Anuj’s death, Rupesh said:

"I couldn't believe it because I had met him just 10 days earlier. I was shocked to hear that he had gone to sleep at night and never woke up. I couldn't understand what could have happened. I spoke to his brother, who was not in a position to speak much.”

Rupesh had known Anuj for 17 years. Their association began with Bandhan Saath Janmon Ka in 2008, and they later worked together on several shows, including Beend Banoonga Ghodi Chadhunga. In the same interview, Rupesh revealed that after learning about Anuj’s death, he met his family and got to know how the actor passed away.

During his interview, Rupesh mentioned that the actor passed away in his sleep and it was his mother who found him unresponsive. Elaborating on the same, Rupesh said:

“Anuj was an early riser. He would wake up at 4.30 am every day and follow his routine, which included fitness and jogging. However, that morning, he didn't get up. His alarm went off at 4.30 am, and when his mother went to his room to wake him, she found that he had passed away."

Rupesh Sonar penned a heartfelt tribute for Anuj Thakur

Rupesh penned a heartfelt tribute to his friend and long-time collaborator, Anuj Thakur, in a moving Instagram post. Taking to his IG handle, Rupesh expressed his shock and disbelief that his friend was no longer in his life. Penning a heartfelt note, Rupesh wrote:

“Still can’t believe that you are no longer with us. You were not just a friend but like a little brother to me. We had so many projects planned together, and I still remember witnessing your struggles during your initial days and seeing your journey. Life is truly unpredictable. It’s heartbreaking to accept that you are gone so soon. This news feels unreal. You will always be remembered, brother. Rest in peace.”

Soon after Rupesh’s post, many celebrities expressed shock and remembered him as kind and pleasant. Speaking to Times of India, Rupesh also revealed that Anuj had spoken about returning to acting and seemed just as eager as he had been when they first met.
