Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleBollywood veteran, Amitabh Bachchan recently sparked major health concerns by sharing a post detailing hospitalisation on July 21, 2026. Fans thought the 83-year-old star had some serious medical issues and needed immediate medical attention. His worried well-wishers immediately took to his social media comments, sharing their wishes for his speedy recovery. However, hours later, Big B clarified that the post was taken out of context and it meant something entirely different.
After sparking nationwide concern regarding his health, Amitabh Bachchan sat for an interview with Variety India to clarify the situation. He shared that he was neither admitted to the ICU nor did he undergo any surgery. He shared that his post was intended to create a metaphorical link between the rehab period and Argentina's recent FIFA World Cup final loss against Spain. The Sholay actor is most likely a fan of the Messi-led team and used references of ill health to depict Argentina's low phase of defeat. He said:
"I am fine. I did not undergo surgery. It is a misunderstood post. I was giving an example that the period after a surgery or ICU, the most difficult time is when you come home and have to deal with your damaged condition. So when a champion loses, the most difficult time is dealing with yourself in its aftermath."
Amitabh further clarified that he was "absolutely" fine when the interviewer asked him about his health. As per the actor, his post was "misunderstood" as everyone focused on the literal meaning of the words he wrote rather than considering the metaphorical reference. Putting to rest the fan concerns regarding his physical state, Big B stated:
"I was referring to Argentina's loss [against Spain in the FIFA World Cup] and Messi as a champion that lost. People have assumed it's a reference to me...[I am] absolutely [okay]...so far."
Amitabh Bachchan took to his personal blog on July 21, 2026, to talk about hospitalisation due to ill health. The Shahenshah actor generated immense concern among his fans as he shared details of a medical emergency, leading to admission in the ICU, followed by surgery. Amitabh's statement made fans feel that something serious had happened to him, and they were worried sick about his health. He also wrote about "defeat" staring at someone, shattering them.
In the post, Amitabh Bachchan pointed out the uncertainty of life, where one is highly revered at one moment and can lose everything the very next moment. The Pink actor further mentioned being discharged from the hospital and then recovering at home, which many thought to be the actor's current condition. However, we now know that it meant Argentina losing to Spain and heading back to their nation with their head bowed down in defeat. He wrote:
"...in Hospital in a surgery and in the ICU, under the care of proficient Doctors and medical Staff .. a discharge .. and a homecoming .. this period is the most difficult phase .. physically, psychologically and practically .."
Big B called the recovery period "the most difficult phase of your life." He shared that a medical emergency affects one both physically and mentally. The actor also shared, in a philosophical tone, how some can overcome such situations while others can't. As per him, the brave ones who are successful in doing so are labeled "Champions", while the rest perish. His exact words were:
"...you are a revered Champion and one day a defeat stares at you .. this is the most difficult phase of your life .. Some brave it .. some succumb .. they that strive and be brave ever remain Champions .. they that do not, get reconciled and live, exist in the past glory .. a choice each makes individually .. be well be happy."
