BJP leader, Vijaykumar Gavit got schooled for making frivolous remarks about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and claiming that her beautiful eyes are due to daily consumption of fish.
The entertainment world is a vulnerable space with no concept of privacy. Over the years, we have seen celebrities being treated as individuals who would go to any extent to maintain their everlasting beauty. The latest target of these bizarre statements is none other than actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. For the unversed, recently, a politician claimed that Aishwarya's beautiful eyes are a consequence of eating fish.
On August 21, 2023, Maharashtra's Minister of Tribal Welfare, Vijaykumar Gavit made himself a target of massive backlash after he claimed that people who consume fish on a regular basis have smooth skin and sparkling eyes. Speaking at a public event, Gavit said in Marathi:
"People who consume fish on a daily basis develop smooth skin and their eyes sparkle. If anyone looks at you, the person will get attracted (towards you).

However, to further prove his point, he mentioned the case of actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who used to live near the seashore in Mangaluru. Gavit claimed that since the actress consumed fish daily, her eyes became beautiful. The 68-year-old minister said:
“Did I tell you about Aishwarya Rai? She lived near the seashore in Mangaluru. She would consume fish daily. Have you seen her eyes? You will also have eyes like her. The fish contain some oils, it makes your skin smooth.”
Now, Vijaykumar Gavit's statements have spread like wildfire, making him look like a joke. There is no denying the fact that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most beautiful women in the world. Moreover, her stunning blue eyes can make anyone go weak in the knees. However, no expert ever credited a fish for Aishwarya's beauty. Coming back to Garvit's claim, the politician has irked many people, and his fellow politicians are leaving no stone unturned to school him.

NCP legislator, Amol Mitkar called out Garvit for his illogical statement and asked him to cater to the challenges experienced by the tribal communities, instead of making frivolous remarks. Meanwhile, BJP MLA, Nitesh Rane, too highlighted the lack of research on Gavit's part and slammed the latter for the same. He said:
“I eat fish daily. My eyes should have become like that (like those of Aishwarya Rai). I will ask Gavit sahib if there is any research on this.”
