Priyanka Chopra Says She Won't Accept Bullying Like Initial Years, Recalls Once She Stalled A Shoot

Global icon, Priyanka Chopra has already crafted a niche for herself in the entertainment industry. Starting her acting journey in Bollywood to setting her mark in Hollywood, Priyanka has walked a long path. However, during her journey, she has also faced a few ups and downs in her career. Time and again, she has opened up about the same. Once again, the actress, who is looking forward to the release of her next Hollywood film, Heads of State, narrated how she was once badly bullied on the sets, making her ask the director to stop the shoot for the day.

Priyanka Chopra reveals the reason why her co-actor had to do 'solo-performance' despite having her part in a film scene

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Priyanka Chopra revealed how she faced weird things on the sets of her film quite a number of times. Narrating one such incident during one of the shoots of her film, the gorgeousness shared how a co-actor had to give 'solo-performance' despite it being the scene for both of them. Priyanka said that the co-actor used to decide what scene would happen and even interpret the scene's meaning according to them. Thus, when her co-actor didn't even give her a chance to finish her part or take a breath, she used to step back and let them continue. Priyanka said:

“I have had a couple of co-actors of mine who did solo performances. They came in, and they decided this is the scene that they want to do, and everyone else have to cater to that and ‘vo solo performance kar rahe hain’. They don’t wait for you to finish your lines in your time, and they don’t wait for you to take a pause or breath because they have decided how to do the scene.”

Further, Priyanka was asked if she was ever asked by any of her co-actors how to do a scene. To this, the actress affirmingly shared that she is ready to accept any suggestion from her director, a senior actor or someone she admires. But would never cater to a co-actor's wish if they say, "Maine ye decide kar liya hai”. Explaining how she reacted when something similar happened to her, she shared:

“This has happened to me.. the shoot was stalled..it was a monologue.. I won’t name the person, guess if you can…it was a monologue of the actor on how he feels about me, but he decided not to even look at me. He was doing it and doing it and I had to get my line in. But I couldn’t. So, I finally went to the filmmaker and told him, ‘I admire the actor I am working with, but it is really tough for me. I need my co-actor to listen to how I am saying my line'.”

The 'Desi girl of Bollywood' explained that thus, she had to protest, and in this way, she refused to give in. Following this, Priyanka went to her director, who had also noticed the same during the scene's shoot, and on her request, the shoot was stalled for the day. Priyanka revealed how gently she protested:

“We stopped the shoot, went back to the hotel and had a reading of the scene. We created a collaborative environment during the reading and the scene was shot the next day and it was amazing. The movie did very very well.”

Priyanka adds that she doesn't like to get bullied

At the end of the conversation, Priyanka mentioned that she would never accept getting bullied in her life. Expressing how, at the initial phase of her life, she was unable to take a firm step, she mentioned that now, after getting to a certain level in her career, she has a sense of confidence. She explained:

“I am not someone who takes bullying while sitting down. But I am also not someone who fights in an aggressive manner. I am a solution-oriented person and I am a talking person. I know my job and at least I can say that now, when I was young, I couldn’t. After reaching a point, when you know you have given successful performances, don’t allow anybody else or your co-actor to tell you that they are better than you, whoever they might be. Have a sense of confidence.”
