Bollywood has seen many stars leave an indelible impression on their audience with their work. One of them was actress, Divya Bharti, who was considered an icon and was the highest-paid actress of her time. Critics hailed her for breaking away from character stereotypes and carving her own path in the industry.
Divya’s charm was so strong that people went berserk. Her enchanting smile and sparkling eyes left her fans in a complete meltdown. Many popular actors, too, couldn’t resist her enchanting beauty. One of them was actor Govinda. In an interview, Govinda openly confessed his feelings for Divya.

During the making of Shola Aur Shabnam, there were rumours about Divya and Govinda’s relationship. In a throwback interview with Stardust, Govinda talked about his fondness for the gorgeous Divya Bharti while he was married to Sunita. The actor then revealed that he was resisting Divya’s charms and said:
“Well, I am a firm believer in destiny. What has to happen, will happen. Yes, I like Juhi a lot. Even Divya Bharati. Divya is a very sensuous girl. It's difficult for a man to resist her. I know Sunita is going to be very upset with all this. But she should know that I am still resisting Divya's charms. I haven't given in to the temptation as yet.”
Govinda was one of the iconic actors of the 90s, and his name was linked with many actresses. In the same interview with Stardust, the actor talked about the possibility of his second marriage amid his and Divya’s dating reports. Talking about the same, he shared:
“Tomorrow, who knows, I may get involved again, and then, maybe I will marry the girl I get involved with. But Sunita should be prepared for it. Only then will I feel free. And there is a second marriage in my Kundli.”

It was Govinda, who introduced Divya Bharti to Sajid Nadiadwala. Divya and Sajid met each other for the first time when Divya was working with Govinda in the movie, Shola Aur Shabnam. Sajid, who was working with Govinda for the movie, Zulm Ki Hukumat had visited Govinda. The actor introduced Sajid to Divya, and it was love at first sight for the producer as he was completely bestowed by Divya’s beauty. They started off as friends and later realised that they had feelings for each other. Soon, they tied the knot on May 10, 1992, in a private ceremony.
On April 5, 1993, Divya had fallen off from her apartment and died at the age of 19, shocking the entire nation. Her death still remains a mystery. After Divya's death, Sajid was completely distraught and had lived many years in immense pain and loneliness. After her demise, Sajid made sure to dedicate all his films to her. He had continued to do so until he had tied the knot with a journalist, Warda Khan. In an interview with a leading publication, Sajid’s current wife, Warda revealed that he still keeps Divya’s photo in his wallet.
Divya and Govinda worked together in films like Shola Aur Shabnam, Jaan Se Pyaara, and Andolan. Her death has left a permanent void in Indian cinema that cannot be filled by anyone else.
