Catfights and professional rivalries are quite common in the glamour world. There have been many instances when an actress has openly bitched about a fellow actress and passed nasty comments. And one such nasty dig was taken by actress, Bipasha Basu on Ameesha Patel when the former visited the sets of the celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan season 1.
Bipasha Basu became an overnight star after she starred in the film, Jism alongside actor, John Abraham in 2003. In the film, Bipasha played the role of a millionaire’s wife, who indulged in an extra-marital affair with a lawyer while seducing him. The film was quite bold and also ranked 92 in the top 100 sexiest movies. After the release of the film, Bipasha earned the tag of Bollywood’s sex symbol.

When Bipasha appeared in the first season of Koffee With Karan in 2004, the host of the show, Karan Johar addressed Bipasha’s role in Jism. He also shared how actress, Ameesha Patel stated that she would never do a role like that since her grandmother would have been unhappy. Reacting to Ameesha’s take, Bipasha gave a savage reply and took a dig at her small frame. In her words:
“I would say first of all Ameesha doesn’t have the physical attributes to carry a role like Jism. It is a very honest (statement), I would not cast her to carry a Jism. You need to be a woman, like a total package, not just bodily but you have to have a very strong personality. I think she is too petite, too small to do that. You know, her whole frame is wrong. She would not fit the role.”

In the same conversation, Karan also revealed how Ameesha Patel commented on Bipasha’s hips, the actress calmly replied that she would like to thank Ameesha and said:
“I would like to thank Ameesha, to say that my hips were big and now they are small. Now they are rocking.”

Bipasha Basu made her acting career in 2001 in the film, Ajnabee, opposite Akshay Kumar and was later seen in the horror flick, Raaz. However, it was Pooja Bhatt’s erotic thriller, Jism, which turned out to be one of the most popular roles of her career. On the other hand, Ameesha Patel made her acting debut in 2000 with the film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, opposite Hrithik Roshan. After her debut film, Ameesha did films, which didn’t have an everlasting impression on the box office.
Ameesha Patel and Bipasha Basu were competitors during that time and never shared screen space with each other.
