Popular Indo-Canadian singer, AP Dhillon made headlines during his recent performance at the prestigious Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2024. In the video of his performance doing rounds, the artist could be seen breaking his guitar furiously on-stage, as he finished off his song. While many netizens concluded it as a mark of rage that pop artists and musicians often exhibit, some others didn’t mince their words and schooled AP Dhillon for showing an apparent disregard and disrespect towards musical instruments, which is extremely revered in Indian cultures.
On April 17, 2024, AP Dhillon dropped some more glimpses from his recent gig at the Coachella 2024 music festival. Apart from several of his dashing close-ups, he also dropped a snapshot of the exact moment when he broke his guitar on-stage. Interestingly, the backdrop behind him in that instant flashed the words, ‘Justice For Sidhu Moosewala’. Thus, the artist indicated that his action was in fact, a tribute to the late singer, who was assassinated in 2022. Moreover, he also shared a clip of several other music artists across the globe, who had broken their musical instruments on the stage. Slamming shut all conjectures with his media dump, AP Dhillon also penned a witty caption that read as:
“The media is controlled and I’m out of control.”

Back when the clip of AP Dhillon smashing his guitar on-stage surfaced, several internet users had taken an instant dislike of the same and they slammed the artist for showing lack of respect to the tools that have enabled him to soar so high. Taking to the comment sections, while one internet user wrote, “Respect the things which brought you to this stage. Its completely your and your loss”, another netizen expressed, “This is pathetic. Do better AP”.
Previously, in a candid interaction with Bollywood Hungama, AP Dhillon opened up about some of the tough situations and challenges that he has faced in his career. He remembered a time when he visited Canada, and since he didn’t have any money or credit card to pay, he wasn’t granted accommodation by any hotel. At the end, he decided to sleep on the roads itself, over the two suitcases he carried with himself. Remembering how it was a stranger who had offered him help, AP Dhillon stated:
“I had two suitcases. I put them on the ground and tried to sleep on them. There was this brown girl, she came to me and said, 'Yo, you don't look like a homeless person? Why are you sleeping like this?' I told her the story. Then she went to her boyfriend or fiance, I don't remember, and said, 'Yo, give this guy your credit card.' And I remember that guy telling me, 'Bro, please don't steal anything, break anything' (smiles). There are good people out there.”

Apart from his prolific career and beaming success, it is AP Dhillon’s personal life that is tucked away far from the limelight. Reportedly, the singer is in a relationship with model-turned-actress, Banita Sandhu. While the duo have never really opened up about the same, it was their mushy pictures which were released during the release of AP Dhillon’s song, With You which somewhat confirmed the same.
