Meghan Trainor recently surprised the internet by announcing she has welcomed her third child, a daughter with her husband, Daryl Sabara.
After Megan Trainor spent most of 2025 in the spotlight for her 60-pound dramatic weight loss, the singer surprised netizens in early 2025 with an entirely different announcement. The Grammy-winning singer revealed that she has welcomed her baby with her husband, Daryl Sabara. The baby, their first daughter, Mikey Moon, arrived via a surrogate on January 18, 2026. While everyone sent their best wishes for the family, some netizens were curious about her decision to choose surrogacy and whether it was linked to her recent weight loss.
Meghan Trainor sat down for an exclusive conversation with People and opened up about her decision to choose surrogacy to welcome her third child. The 32-year-old singer shared that surrogacy was their first plan, but it was the safest option based on their circumstances. For those unaware, she and her husband, Daryl, are already parents to sons, Riley and Barry. They were carried by Megan herself, but she had difficult pregnancies and postpartum struggles. Owing to these reasons, doctors advised her against carrying a third baby. In her words:
"It wasn't our first choice, but we had endless conversations with our doctors on this journey, and this was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family. I want people to know that surrogacy is just another beautiful way to build a family. It's not something to whisper about or judge."
Further, Meghan praised her surrogate, whom she described as one of the most selfless, strong, and loving people she has ever encountered. The singer expressed her gratitude to her and said they developed a strong bond throughout the pregnancy.
Meghan Trainor's physical transformation was one of the biggest celebrity highlights of 2025. However, she has made it clear in her interview that her decision to use a surrogate was about medical safety and not aesthetics. During her first pregnancy, the singer had spent days in the NICU due to breathing complications. Later, Meghab developed PTSD after being separated from her newborn while undergoing emergency medical treatment. Similar, during her second pregnancy, she developed gestational diabetes, which became a turning point for her health. Recalling an experience, she said:
"I was lying there alone while my baby was in the NICU. That was traumatic."
Meghan has been open about how motherhood pushed her to focus on her health. Back in March 2025, she began using Mounjaro, a GLP-1 medication, under medical supervision to support her weight loss. Additionally, she made serious lifestyle changes as directed by a dietician. Eventually, it helped her regain energy, confidence, and stamina for touring and parenting. Meanwhile, Meghan married her husband, Daryl, in 2018, and they are now proud parents of sons Riley and Barry and a newborn daughter, Mikey Moon.
Professionally, Meghan is entering a busy chapter in her life. She is set to drop her seventh studio album, Toy With Me, drops April 24, 2026, followed by The Get In Girl Tour beginning in June 202y. She also continues to mentor on The Voice and hosts her podcast, Workin' On It, with her brother, Ryan Trainor.
