Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleFormer U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema's personal life has drawn a lot of attention in 2026. Specifically, the 50-year-old's affair with her former married boyguard Matthew Ammel has got people talking. While the latter's ex-wife, Heather, has filed a lawsuit against Krysten, another report about the senator and Matthew has surfaced online. It alleges that Krysten reportedly bailed out her bodyguard after he was arrested for an assault case.
Court documents filed in Heather's case have revealed that Matthew Ammel was legally placed in a medical facility. It was done without his consent on November 19, 2025. However, he was taken into custody the next day after he allegedly assaulted a physician. Authorities claim that Matthew had physically attacked the medical professional and forced him to the floor by wrapping an arm around his neck.
In fact, court records mention that the person suffered some injuries from the incident. He had swelling, bruises, welts, and cuts on many parts of his body. Therefore, the former bodyguard faced charges of assault by strangulation and assault against emergency personnel. Eventually, the case proceeded through the legal process and resulted in a guilty plea.
It was in May 2026 when Matthew Ammel pleaded guilty to those charges. So, he was sentenced to 12 months of unsupervised probation. At the same time, the court asked him to continue his mental health treatment. Moreover, the court asked him to complete 48 hours of community service and avoid contact with the victim. He was also asked to avoid having any sort of firearms during his probation period.
Meanwhile, the incident has received attention for the involvement of Kyrsten Sinema. Matthew's ex-wife, Heather, claims that Krysten went to North Carolina to help secure his release from jail. Court filings alleged that after getting out of prison, Matthew shifted from his rental property. In fact, he began staying at Kyrsten Sinema's home in Arizona.
Until now, Kyrsten has not made any comments on the reports. But the allegations are a part of the bigger dispute related to their affair. Moreover, the former senator allegedly assisted Matthew during a difficult period as he was already dealing with legal and mental health issues.
For those unaware, the issue around Krysten Sinema and Matthew Ammel is more than just the assault case. The incident became public after Heather Ammel filed an "alienation of affection" lawsuit against Krysten in North Carolina at the beginning of 2026. She used the rare legal claim that allows a spouse to seek financial damages from a third party who contributed to the end of a marriage.
Other court filings stated that Matthew Ammel and Krysten had developed a romantic relationship after he joined her security team in 2022. Later, he worked as a national security fellow in her Senate office, continuing their bond. Krysten also accepted that she had a romantic and sexual bond with Matthew.
At the same time, the depositions mentioned in the reports suggest that the relationship began around May 2024 and continued for many months. But Kyrsten's legal team has argued that the case should be dismissed. Otherwise, it must be moved because nothing occurred between them in North Carolina.
Matthew Ammel had worked in Army Green Beret. Now, he is fulfilling the terms of his probation. He is also dealing with the legal issues related to his criminal case. At the same time, Matthew's marriage to Heather ended after she found out about his extramarital affair. So, he is also dealing with its legal implications.
Public records also confirm that his business entity, Matthew Ammel LLC, was dissolved in late 2025. Meanwhile, he also remains a part of the alienation-of-affection lawsuit filed by his ex-wife. Alongside, he is complying with court-ordered mental health treatment.
