“It was so painful after we broke up. Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending.
After two years of marriage, reports of problems surfaced, and in 2024, Jennifer filed for a divorce. A source close to her told People that she was heartbroken with the divorce, as she had worked really hard to make things work.
After Jennifer filed for divorce from Ben, the latter began dating Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It was also reported that Ben had cheated on Jennifer with Kennedy. In an interview with GQ, Ben addressed his split from Jennifer and said:
“There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, 'Hey, what happened?' Well, there is no, 'This is what happened. It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do."
