Reportedly, Sidharth lost his father, Sunil, on February 14, 2026. The actor and his wife, Kiara Advani, rushed to Delhi to attend the funeral and stand together as a family. A report by the Hindustan Times has mentioned that all the ceremonies have concluded and the couple is expected to stay in Delhi for a few days.

The family did maintain privacy regarding his medical reports, on the social media, a lot of publications have mentioned that Sidharth's father, Sunil had suffered a stroke. It had reportedly affected Sunil's daily life.

Sidharth Malhotra, once in an interview with Lilly Singh, had shared that his father, Sunil, was unwell for some time. He had admitted to not fully acknowledging the sacrifices made by his wife, Rimma Malhotra. The Student Of The Year actor did share that Sunil was not healthy for a while, and he used to be scared, angry and even harsh on his mom, Rimma. This is because Rimma was the one who used to look after Sunil's medicines. In his words:
"My father’s not keeping well to do that and within that I realized... we got up one morning and just having coffee and tea in Delhi and she started speaking about 20 years back... what she had to deal with when we were much younger or when I wasn’t there or when I was trying to make my own life."
Sidharth revealed that his mom, Rimma, used to hide the information about dealing with Sunil when the actor was younger. Sidharth did reveal that he feels that he should not credit his mom, Rimma, for the years building up to his dad's health. He shared that during that time, his mom, Rimma, had made so many sacrifices that he was not aware of, and he had to deal with his mother with a lot of love as well as sensitivity.
