Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleArchana Puran Singh is a well-known Indian actress and television personality. From the popular television series Shrimati to films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Krrish, Mohabbatein, and De Dana Dan, Archana has delivered tremendous work throughout her career. She is married to actor Parmeet Sethi, and together they are parents to Aaryamann and Ayushmaan. But did you know that before she married Parmeet, Archana was married to someone else?
When Archana met Parmeet at a party for the first time, she was already nursing her broken heart after a divorce from her first husband. As per multiple reports, Archana was married to Gurinder Singh, who was known as Sunny Reyar in the modeling world. The reports further stated that Archana and Gurinder married in the 1980s, but after a few years they called it off and divorced.
Not just this, IMDB biography of Archana Puran Singh also reveals that her first husband, Gurinder, passed away in 1991. However, BollywoodShaadis cannot independently verify the claims. Though Archana has not directly spoken about her first husband, she once revealed the impact of a failed relationship on her life.
Since Archana had a failed marriage when she met Parmeet, she had made up her mind not to indulge in marriage for the second time. In an interview with ETimes, Archana spoke about her failed first marriage and said:
“After my previous failed marriage, I never wanted to have another man in my life. But with Parmeet, I realized that men can be gentle, loving and sensitive, and not all of them are violent and possessive. Parmeet is an absolute antithesis of a male chauvinist."
However, Parmeet’s mannerisms impressed Archana, and the two started dating. The couple was in a live-in relationship for a long time before they tied the knot. It was not easy for them, as they faced a lot of criticism from the public and their private circle.
When Archana and Parmeet met for the first time, both had just come out of long-term relationships and were not looking for anything serious. Archana herself has confessed, “This was earlier meant to be a fling.” Explaining how their relationship went from casual to one marked by lasting commitment, Archana shared:
“People say rebound relationships don't last, but we are proof that they can work. Something that was supposed to be a one-night stand…we told each other very clearly that this would not be serious.”
After a live-in relationship for about four years, Archana and Parmeet secretly married on June 30, 1992. One of the reasons they decided to keep their wedding under wraps was that actresses were losing projects due to their marital status, and Archana didn’t want to jeopardize her career. Soon after their marriage, Archana became the family's breadwinner because Parmeet was struggling to find a foothold in the industry.
In a candid conversation on Archana’s YouTube channel, she revealed that she took on all the projects that came her way, including many C-grade films. Under financial pressure, she was forced to take whatever roles came her way. Speaking about the same, she said:
“Another mantra of mine is, I never say no to work. Now I have started saying no to some work. The result of that was that I did very bad films. I did C-grade films. Because my mindset was to put bread and butter on the table. At that time, I felt like if you had stepped up, I wouldn’t have to do that work.”
