Usher announced his joint tour with Chris Brown by dropping a trailer on April 10, 2026. Amid the singer in the limelight, let's introduce you to Usher's wife, Jennifer Goicoechea.
Usher is one of the most influential figures in contemporary R&B and pop music. In fact, he was ranked among the greatest pop stars of the 21st century by Billboard. For those unaware, Usher was only 15 when he released his self-titled debut album in 1994. Over the years, Usher has released eight more albums, including Here I Stand, Looking 4 Myself, and Coming Home.
At present, Usher is hogging the limelight for teaming up with Chris Brown for a new tour. The duo dropped the news on social media on Friday, April 10, 2026, in style, zipping through city streets on motorcycles, in the R&B tour's trailer. With fans going feral over the joint venture, let us introduce you to Usher's biggest supporter, his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea.
According to reports, Usher's wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, grew up in Miami. She was born to a Puerto Rican father and Italian mother. After she graduated from high school, Jennifer continued her studies in her home state. A quick look at her LinkedIn reveals that she attended Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, starting in 2023. Here, Jennifer studied recording arts.
Jennifer's mother, Barbara Goicoechea, has served as the director of operations at ACT Productions since 1988. For the unversed, it is a Miami-based event and multimedia production company. It was while Jennifer began working with her mother that she had the chance to begin working as an assistant manager for singer, Ciara. Her position played a significant role in kick-starting her career in entertainment.
After relocating from Florida to the West Coast, Jennifer began representing artists under Boogs'N'Effect, her management company. According to People, one of her first artists at the time was KING (née Keisha Rain). Later, in January 2014, Jennifer began working at ASCAP as the director of rhythm and soul. It is a non-profit membership organisation which includes several songwriters, composers, and publishers. It helps its members receive fair compensation for public performances and distribute royalties. Speaking about her success in the industry, Jennifer told Rolling Out in November 2015:
"Having strong organisational skills, event planning abilities, being able to identify burgeoning talent early on while staying current and involved on the music scene and keeping my ear to the pulse is what helped me get to where I am today."
After two years in that position, Jennifer announced her exit from the organisation in December 2016. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “I just wanted to thank my ASCAP Family for everything…@mrsngm I will always be in debt to you. You gave a girl from Miami a shot.” It is worth noting that despite Jennifer and her husband, Usher, both working in the music industry, the duo have never collaborated professionally.
Because both Jennifer and Usher belong to the same industry, they have crossed paths many times before they became romantically involved. For instance, in March 2016, Jennifer shared a picture of herself whispering in Usher's ear at an event. Again, in March 2018, she posted a throwback photo with the singer, along with other male creatives like producer, Bryan-Michael Cox. She kept the caption simple, writing, “Boys Club.”
Romance rumours between Usher and Jennifer started in June 2019 after the pair were photographed attending Keith Thomas' 40th birthday celebration in Atlanta. They finally went public a few months later, in June 2019, after they were spotted kissing backstage at a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Photographer Jennifer Johnson shared a picture of Usher and Jennifer from the night on Instagram with the caption, “Cause she's such a good kisser! Caught a rare moment with @usher backstage the other day. I stay catching moments like these boys be catching feelings.”
In 2020, Jennifer was named one of Billboard's R&B/ Hip-Hop Power players alongside many of her Epic Records colleagues. In 2021, Jennifer was recognised by the outlet once again. While expressing her gratitude, she gave a shoutout to her bosses on Instagram. She wrote, "Honored to be on this year's R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players list!! Thank you @billboard for the acknowledgement ... BIG Thank You @iamsylviarhone and @ezekiellewis for the opportunity to do what I love everyday #blessed."
In September 2020, a source close to the couple confirmed to People that Usher and Jennifer were “thrilled to be expecting” their first child together. Well, Usher himself revealed the good news during an appearance on Good Morning America the same month. On September 24, 2020, Usher and Jennifer welcomed their daughter, Sovereign Bo. After a few days of her arrival, the singer wrote on Instagram, “We are feeling blessed and full of love with the arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Sovereign Bo Raymond. “Isn't She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder on repeat,” followed by three red heart emojis.
During her second pregnancy, Jennifer made an appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in May 2021. Hosted by her now-husband, Usher, Jennifer showed off her growing bump in a fitted black gown during the ceremony. On September 29, 2021, she and Usher celebrated the birth of their son, Sire Castrello. However, Usher only announced his birth a month later on Instagram, writing, “Hi my name is Sire Castrello Raymond…I am the newest addition to the Raymond crew. I was born September 29, 2021, at 6:42 pm, weighing 7lbs 13oz. Hear me roar…A.K.A Ra Ra Gang.”
In her own post, Jennifer revealed that her son's name has an emotional backstory. She explained that her grandfather, Champ Castrello, passed away at the age of 105 shortly before she gave birth. Since he was the “strongest, bravest, family-oriented, funny, and kindest” man she knew other than her baby's father, she decided to keep his name alive as he is the best example of how a man should be.
Apparently, ahead of Usher's performance at the 2024 Super Bowl, he and Jennifer obtained a marriage license. Days after that, several sources confirmed to People that the duo tied the knot in Las Vegas that weekend. Additionally, Usher was also photographed wearing a gold band on his left finger and a black tuxedo under a white coat. Beside him, Jennifer was spotted wearing an all-white pantsuit.
