Singing sensation, Udit Narayan, has ruled Bollywood for many years and swooned the hearts of millions with his soulful songs. The singer, who received four National Awards in his career spanning over three decades, has sung songs in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Nepali, Bhojpuri and many others.
Udit’s professional life has always seen many highs, but his personal life has often garnered attention for all the wrong reasons. The actor was first married to Ranjana; however, without divorcing her, he later married Deepa Gahatraj. After a lot of drama, the singer accepted his first marriage and agreed to provide maintenance to Ranjana.
And now, Ranjana charges Udit with deceit and accuses Udit of getting her uterus removed without her consent. Amid the marital discord between Udit and Ranjana, let us read on to know more about her.
Udit Narayan’s first wife, Ranjana Jha, is a resident of Balua Bazar in Supaul. She married Udit in 1984 before he became a popular Bollywood singer. The duo lived together at their home in Bihar before he left Bihar to pursue a career in Hindi cinema. However, in 1985, Udit married Deepa Gahatraj without divorcing Ranjana.
In 2025, Deepa filed for a maintenance case against her husband, Udit, at a Family court in Supaul. In her lawsuit, Ranjana claimed that the singer abandoned her in Bihar. Not just this, she also revealed that whenever she visited him in Mumbai, she was tracked by the goons. As per the law, Udit’s second marriage to Deepa is considered unlawful and illegal under the Hindu Marriage Act.
Amid Ranjana’s claims, a source close to Udit Narayan revealed that the singer reportedly paid Rs 15,000 per month as maintenance. In 2021, the amount was increased to Rs. 25,000. Not just this, according to the source, Udit gifted Ranjana agricultural land, a house worth Rs 1 crore, jewellery, and another piece of land worth Rs 25 lakh.
Ranjana recently approached the Women's Police Station in Bihar's Supaul and accused Udit, his second wife, Deepa and his two brothers of a serious criminal offence. Ranjana submitted a formal complaint against the singer, in which she alleged that the singer got her uterus removed without her consent. Ranjana revealed that she learned about it only years later, during medical treatment.
Speaking about the same, Ranjana claimed that she was subjected to a criminal conspiracy in which her uterus was removed without her knowledge. Elaborating on the same, Ranjana said:
“In 1996, I was taken by Udit, his two brothers and his second wife to a prominent Delhi hospital where, under the guise of my treatment, my uterus was removed without my knowledge or consent. I came to know about it (removal of uterus) recently when I visited a doctor for treatment of a different ailment.”
In her complaint, Ranjana also stated that she wasn’t allowed to enter Udit Narayan’s home when she went there to meet him. Revealing how the singer never kept his promise, Ranjana shared:
“When I went to Mumbai two decades ago, I was not allowed to enter his house. Same treatment was meted out to me when I went to my in-laws house, following which I lodged a police case in 2006. Eventually, Udit then promised to support me financially, but he never kept that promise.”
