Speaking to CBS recently, Pam Bondi, 60, revealed that despite her cancer, she has remained actively involved in public life and is expected to join President Donald Trump’s Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). In another interview with CNN, she shared that her cancer diagnosis came after she stepped down from her position back in April 2026.

John Wakefield, 53, is an American private equity executive and investor, per his LinkedIn bio. According to his professional background, Wakefield previously worked in banking and later served as vice president of corporate business development and strategy at Lykes Bros Inc. In 2015, he co-founded Varner Wakefield Equity Partners, a Florida-based firm focused on real estate investments across the United States. He also currently works with Ellison Development as an executive vice president.
Regarding his academic background, he reportedly graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in English before earning an international business degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Unlike Bondi, Wakefield has stayed out of the spotlight, but he has been there for some of the biggest moments in Bondi's political career.

Besides his appearance alongside Donald Trump Jr. and his now-wife, Bettina Anderson, one of Wakefield's most talked-about moments came during Bondi's swearing-in ceremony as attorney general in February 2025. In photos from the event, Wakefield stood beside Pam, holding the Bible as she took the oath of office.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Donald Trump publicly addressed Wakefield as a "very handsome husband," joking that his good looks made Trump hate being around him. The president said at that time:
"I just want to introduce her very, very handsome husband. I hate being around him. He looks too good. He’s been a tremendous factor with Pam and just a beautiful relationship."
It should be noted that neither Bondi nor Wakefield ever publicly confirmed whether they are married, but their 2022 photo from Doomberg, Ireland, shows a wedding ring on Wakefield's left hand. In 1990, she married her first husband, Garret Barnes, but the marriage barely lasted two years, and it was reportedly beyond her political conversation. Four years after her divorce from Garret Barnes, Pam moved on with Scott Fitzgerald, whom she married in 1996. However, that marriage also did not last very long, and they officially split in 2002. Bondi was also once engaged to ophthalmologist Greg Henderson, whom she reportedly met in 2012, but that relationship also did not last long.
