Diane Alexander was born on June 16, 1967, in Los Angeles, California. She had two children with Lionel Richie, including Miles Brockman Richie and Sofia Richie Grainge. After his divorce from Harvey was finalized in 1993, Richie and Alexander tied the knot two years later in 1995. They had two children together, Miles Brockman Richie, born in 1994, and Sofia Richie, born in 1998. The couple separated after nearly a decade of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
Their divorce proceedings drew attention due to the reported financial settlement, with filings indicating that Alexander had requested substantial monthly support and that the final settlement was reported to be around USD 20 million. In his memoir, Truly, which was published on September 30, 2025, Lionel Richie recalled the infidelity rumors surrounding him and Alexandra that arose when they were seen together. Lionel wrote that he and Harvey had already split. Furthermore, the musician was also living separately.
In the memoir, Lionel recalled another incident when he traveled to see Alexander one morning. Notably, Harvey arrived at the location, leading to a heated confrontation. According to his account, the argument escalated, neighbors contacted authorities, and Harvey was arrested on suspicion of corporal injury, battery, and resisting arrest, though the charges were later dropped. Richie said in the book that he told police he had been kicked during the altercation and that the incident became widely publicized. He also wrote that the situation was painful for everyone involved.
Apart from being a singer, Lionel Richie has also been a songwriter and record producer. He rose to fame with the band The Commodores in the 1970s and launched a successful solo career in the 1980s with hits like Hello, All Night Long, and Endless Love. He has won four Grammys and is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
