Muskkaan Jaferi is an Indian actress and a voice-over artist. She made her acting debut in the short film, Medium. However, Muskkaan's second major project was with Hollywood director, Don Sefton, who cast her in his television series, The Good Karma Hospital. She was later cast in the English-language film, Nobleman. She gained popularity as 'Celine Metthews' in Mismatched.
Apart from this, Muskkaan Jaferi played a character named 'Saira Ali' in Call Me Bae and was also seen in Reema Kagti’s Superboys Of Malegaon, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. In addition to acting, Muskkaan is a voice-over artist and has dubbed for actresses, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Sai Pallavi in their films. She is the Hindi voice behind Moana, Alita (Alita: Battle Angel), Vanellope (Ralph Breaks the Internet), Nancy (Stranger Things), among others.
Muskaan took a three-year break and returned with the web series, The Fame Game. In the series, she played Madhuri Dixit’s on-screen daughter. In a throwback interview with the Hindustan Times, it was revealed that Muskkaan had never disclosed her relationship to Jaaved Jaaferi. Speaking about the same, the actress stated:
“Muskaan never told me that she was Jagdeep's daughter and Javed's half-sister. I was like, 'Why didn't you tell me.' Muskaan replied to this, 'I want to be recognised for my name and work."
For the uninitiated, Muskkaan Jaferi is the daughter of legendary comedian and actor Jagdeep Jaffrey and Najima Jaffrey. Her father was a noted actor in the Hindi film industry. He played the popular character of ‘Soorma Bhopali’ in Sholay and also appeared in films such as Purana Mandir and Andaz Apna Apna.
Muskkaan is the half-sister of Jagdeep’s son, Jaaved Jaaferi, from his previous marriage. The 30-year-old actress is the aunt of Javed's son, Meezaan Jafri. Another interesting point is that Muskkaan is just two years older than his nephew, Meezaan.
There is no public dispute between Muskkaan and Jaaved, but the two maintain a cordial distance from each other. For the uninitiated, Jagdeep once arranged an alliance for his son, Naved, and the two families met at the comedian's home. While Naved refused to marry at the time to focus on his career, it was his father, Jagdeep, who fell in love with the elder sister of the woman Naved was supposed to marry.
Jagdeep was already married twice and had five children, but that didn’t stop him from marrying Nazima. She was 33 years younger than Jagdeep, and their marriage wasn’t well-received by Jaaved. This caused some tension with Jaaved and Jagdeep, and as a result, Jaaved and his family reportedly maintain a distance from Muskkaan. They are rarely seen together at industry events or parties and maintain separate public and personal spaces.
