J. Cole has been dominating the music industry for quite a few years now. Born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, the American rapper and producer initially gained attention following the release of his debut mixtape in 2007, titled The Come Up. Over the years, J. Cole has collaborated with several top artists in the industry, such as 21 Savage and Morray, both of whom we saw in the single, My Life from his sixth studio album, The Off-Season (2021). J. Cole himself has also featured on other artists' songs, such as Lil Durk's All My Life and Drake's First Person Sh**ter.

Now, the rapper's fans are tremendously happy as he just announced the release date for his most-awaited album, The Fall-Off, a while ago. If you haven't caught up with the news yet, J. Cole's latest album will be officially available next month, on February 26, 2026. As anticipation for The Fall-Off continues to grow, especially after a short trailer for the same was dropped a few hours ago, many have also started to wonder about J. Cole's private life. For the unversed, J. Cole is currently married to his wife, Melissa Heholt. As per reports, they have been together since the 2000s and tied the knot in 2015. Based on an interview published by online lifestyle blog, Karla With A Kay, J. Cole's wife, Melissa Heholt, is an entrepreneur. Her company is called Statice Events, which is a play on the word ‘status’. The company's main focus “is to provide exceptional client service while creating memorable events with a unique flair.” During the 2013 interview, Melissa revealed that whenever she manages to pull off a successful event that remains ingrained in her clients' minds, she knows she has accomplished her goal for the event. A look at the company's social media pages revealed that Statice Events planned and managed events of all sizes, including weddings and birthday parties. Unfortunately, according to a People report, Melissa's company appears to have ceased operations since 2023.

Melissa Heholt completed her high school education at Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens. After this, she went on to attend St. John's University in New York City. This is also the place where she reportedly met her now-husband, J. Cole, for the first time. According to reports, although Melissa began college as a business major, she was quick to change her mind and eventually graduated with a degree in health administration. Following this, Melissa pursued a Master's degree in elementary education. Reportedly, she worked in this field for a few years before founding her company, Statice Events.

Many might not be aware, but Grammy-winning rapper, J. Cole, apart from making music, also runs a non-profit organisation called the Dreamville Foundation. According to reports, J. Cole founded the organisation in 2011, and in an effort to support her husband, Melissa manages the same as the executive director. The main goal of the foundation is to help underserved youth by facilitating them with the necessary programs and resources through advocacy and partnerships. J. Cole's hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, is among the many places that benefit from the foundation. In a 2015 interview with the Fayetteville Observer, Melissa gushed about how deeply passionate her husband is about improving the Fayetteville community, especially its youth. A quick glance at the organisation's website gives us a better understanding of its mission as bridging “the gap between the worlds of opportunity for urban youth.”

Melissa Heholt and J. Cole kept their marriage a secret until the rapper accidentally revealed it in an interview  

Melissa Heholt and J. Cole sparked engagement rumours in 2010, however, neither of them confirmed it. They went on to wed in secret in 2015, however, the secret only lasted for about a year. During a 2016 conversation with director, Ryan Coogler for Montreality, Ryan gave away the fact that the No Role Modelz rapper was off the market. He did this by asking J. Cole how his married life has changed him as a person. While initially surprised by the sudden question, J. Cole maintained his composure and simply replied with, “It's all good…they know now!" when Ryan apologised to him for his slip-up.

Melissa Heholt and J. Cole are known for keeping their private lives out of the spotlight. While news of their marriage broke a year after they tied the knot, the fact that they became parents was revealed even later. It was in 2020, when J. Cole published a personal essay in The Player's Tribune, that he confessed that he and his wife, Melissa, were parents to two boys. He wrote: 

"I've been blessed with two sons, learned the delicate art of balance between and career." 

J. Cole recalled that he first learned he was about to become a father in 2016. However, when Melissa broke the news to him, he claimed that “it wasn't a surprise.” The rapper further added that he had been “taking steps to change my life for the past couple years, and I felt ready.”

As one might expect, Melissa often influences her husband's music. One of the most iconic instances of this was seen when J. Cole announced that Melissa was pregnant with their second child in the final track of his album, Revenge of the Dreamers III. In the 2019 song titled, Sacrifices, J. Cole raps while thanking his wife: 

"I had nowhere to go, she gave me a place to stay / She gave me her heart to hold / I still got that s--- to this day / She gave me the gift of my son / And plus we got one on the way / She gave me a family to love, for that, I can never repay."
