Draymond Green has taken the court by storm once again. So, while he makes the hoops in the game, let's meet the person who has been his number one cheerer through it all.
NBA Star, Draymond Green, has once again taken the basketball court by storm. The Golden State Warriors' power forward has an impeccable record. However, do you know who the constant support behind the player is?
Draymond Green often makes headlines for his stellar performance on the court. However, outside the court, there is someone who is often seen supporting him through every win and every loss. Yes! We are talking about Green's other half, Hazel Renee. So, without any further ado let's take a look at who she is.
Hazel Renee is an American actress and recording artist. She was born on March 31, 1986, and started her career as a model. While little is known about her early life, she won the National American Miss Teen Michigan title and later modelled for Smooth Girl and Smooth Magazine's top 100 issue. She has also appeared in various commercials and TV episodes, including MTV's Making the Band 3, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and VH1's Basketball Wives, during her relationship with John Wall.
Hazel Renee also dated basketball player, Jacob Pullen and shares a daughter, named Olive, with him. She also has an R&B album titled Love Triangle and has appeared in films, including Fear and A Mother's Intuition.
While it might seem that the couple comes from two very different lines of work, they first met in a theatre class. For the unversed, before joining basketball, Draymond Green was a student at Michigan State University, where they eventually crossed paths. In an interview, Renee revealed that she was on the track team while Green played for the Spartans and that they often interacted. However, they didn't get together right away because Green started playing in the NBA in 2012, and Renee was focused on her acting career.
Hazel Renee and Draymond Green kept their relationship under wraps initially before finally confirming it in an Instagram video in May 2018. The video showed Renee sitting courtside holding Green's then-1-year-old baby at a Warriors game against the Houston Rockets. After the Warriors won, he kissed the model on the sidelines.
After publicly dating for a year, Draymond Green got down on one knee and proposed to Hazel Renee in 2019. They shared the news with their followers on Valentine's Day, in an Instagram video of Green preparing for the proposal a month earlier. The video showed Green and Renee on a helicopter ride over the ocean, where they landed on a boat filled with flowers. However, their wedding plans faced a hurdle, with the arrival of COVID-19 pandemic. The couple was supposed to tie the knot on June 28, 2020, but decided to postpone it given the circumstances.
Nonetheless, the couple used the opportunity to solidify their bond further and even welcomed a little bundle of joy into their home. Hazel Renee gave birth to her and Draymond Green's baby girl, named Cash, in 2020. After a three-and-a-half-year engagement, they finally tied the knot on August 14, 2022. The couple hosted a black-and-white-themed party at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar after an intimate ceremony in San Diego. The couple welcomed another daughter in late 2023. However, they have yet to reveal her name or birth details.
According to Vogue, Draymond Green wore an emerald tuxedo from Rich Fresh, while Renee wore a custom Ines Di Santo ball gown for the ceremony. The duo's kids attended the event in matching clothes. The wedding festivities continued until 4 a.m., complete with a Puff & Parlay cannabis bar, an In-N-Out Burger truck to keep guests fed, and performances by artists like Roddy Ricch and DaBaby. Talking about the wedding, Hazel Renee stated:
"Everything happened so fast! When people kept telling me it would be over quickly, boy, were they right! It was like a whirlwind of dreams, laughter and nonstop dancing."
Over the years, Hazel Renee has been Draymond Green's number one supporter. Renee often shares pictures of their kids supporting their dad at the NBA games. She is also a very doting wife and mom who is not afraid to stand up for her family. She did the same after Boston Celtics fans were heard using NSFW words in their chants aimed at Green during a June 2022 game. Renee called out the spectators on Instagram. Green later reflected on her life's response to the chants and stated:
"I know Hazel is very upset just because our kids were at the game and were listening to that. I'm raising a man, so I don't make much of him hearing or seeing that. We walked out of there smiling with our heads held high ... I'm actually happy that he saw that because, for the rest of his life, we'll have the opportunity to talk about [it]. You can get through it."
