More than 1.1 million Stranger Things fans have already RSVP’d for the finale theatrical screenings in over 620 theatres across the U.S. and Canada, with 3,500 showtimes already sold out. Netflix quietly fixes a Season 5 error before the finale

Just like the famous Starbucks cup error in Game of Thrones, one tiny detail didn’t go unnoticed for fans in Stranger Things season 5, and Netflix made sure to fix it before the finale. In case you missed it, there was a glaring production slip involving ‘Holly Wheeler’ (Nell Fisher). In the original cut, Holly briefly appeared wearing a visible Under Armour logo, which contradicted the show’s timing. While the story is set in 1987, the brand wasn’t founded until 1996.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out this glaring mistake, immediately posting screenshots on social media, joking about the infamous Starbucks cup incident in GoT on X and Reddit threads. Some even added that the clothing brand’s sales might go up now. One fan wrote on X:

“Wait a minute... Holly is wearing Under Armour in 1987?? Brand invented in 1996?? Duffers pulling a Game of Thrones Starbucks cup 2.0. $UAA stock to jump up. I am buying on hype.”

Sometime after the clip went viral, Netflix quietly removed the episode's logo. Fans confirmed the change during rewatches, noting the brand is no longer visible. New viewers can no longer spot this mistake.

A nine-year journey comes to a bittersweet end

Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016, introducing viewers to a group of small-town kids, ‘Mike’ (Finn Wolfhard), ‘Dustin’ (Gaten Matarazzo), ‘Lucas’ (Caleb McLaughlin), and ‘Will’ (Noah Schnapp), whose lives changed forever after they met ‘Eleven’ (Millie Bobbie Brown), a girl with extraordinary powers. Over the years, the cast expanded to include some fan favourites like ‘Max’ (Sadie Sink), ‘Steve’ (Joe Keery), ‘Nancy’ (Natalia Dyer), ‘Jonathan’ (Charlie Heaton), ‘Robin’ (Maya Hawke), ‘Joyce’ (Winona Ryder), and ‘Hopper’ (David Harbour).

A creation of the Duffer Brothers’ Matt and Ross Duffer, the show became a global success, blending sci-fi horror with coming-of-age drama, iconic songs, and a heavy dose of ’80s nostalgia that captured audiences worldwide. The character of ‘Vecna’, portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower, has now become one of Netflix’s most terrifying villains.

What’s at stake in the show’s finale?

With just the final episode left, Hawkins is on the brink of collapse as the Upside Down bleeds into the real world. The finale promises one final confrontation with Vecna. The trailer hints at split missions and military involvement with emotional sacrifices at stake. Fans are especially worried about characters like Steve Harrington, whose fate remains unclear.
