Milo and Hayden worked together in the NBC series, Heroes and eventually fell in love. They dated for two years and called it quits in 2009. The former pair’s romance caught a lot of attention due to their significant age gap. When they began dating, Milo was 30, and Hayden was 18. Milo was quoted as saying:
"There are things that happen to you in your life that shape who you are. Everything I’ve been through from jobs to friendships to partnerships, everything has built me to who I am. Hayden also mentioned the public scrutiny she faced due to her and Milo’s 12-year age gap in her memoir. She recalls the key moment late in 2008 that ultimately led to their breakup. During a party that Hayden and Milo attended together, an NBC executive gave a kiss on Hayden’s lips, and she described it as an innocent one. She also joked about it in front of Milo, who was seemingly a bit offended by it. She mentioned that they officially called it quits a week after the incident. She wrote:
"The press scrutiny around our age difference had been relentless. I decided to tell Milo what had happened when we left the party and were in his car. Not an air kiss or a cheek kiss. His lips touched mine! He said, 'Next time I see John, I’m going to say something to him. That was completely inappropriate.' Days later, he said, 'We need to talk. We can definitely still be friends.' In the blink of an eye, my delicate adolescent heart mended, and Milo became a distant memory."
