Among other things, the media has accessed the former couple's court documents filed months before their death that paint a complex picture of their marriage.
According to the divorce filings obtained by TMZ, Cerina Fairfax made multiple serious allegations against her estranged husband, Justin Fairfax, long before their divorce. The documents were filed on July 18, 2025, where she claimed that Justin did not meet the key financial obligations towards her and their kids. For those unaware, the duo tied the knot in 2006 and had two children. They began to live separately in June 2024. Cerina mentioned that in the court filings, there was "no expectation or hope of reconciliation," hinting that their marriage had already reached the breaking point.
Cerina alleged that Justin did not pay his share of household expenses, including 50% of their kids' private school tuition and extracurricular activity costs. At the same time, she mentioned how he has stopped paying his share of their mortgage and other financial obligations. Although he was a successful lawyer and former public official, Cerina explained that she was forced to be the family's sole financial provider.
Along with the allegations, Cerina made certain legal demands. She asked for the primary custody of her kids and only visitation rights for Justin. She also asked the court to enforce the post-nuptial agreement they signed in December 2024 to resolve multiple issues related to asset division. Cerina had to ask for legal intervention because despite agreeing to it earlier, Justin was not fulfilling his share of the agreement. In fact, she also expressed her plan to buy his share of their Virginia home, ending their life together.
