Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, is dominating headlines as she was recently fired following her alleged extramarital affair with political adviser, Corey Lewandowski. While Kristi has dismissed the rumours, multiple sources served as evidence of the affair between Kristi and Cory. In their personal lives, Kristi has been married to Bryon Noem for three decades, and Corey has been married to Alison Lewandowski.
Amid the ongoing rumours surrounding Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski’s alleged affair, the former’s marital life has grabbed the limelight. It is noteworthy to mention that long before Kristi’s alleged extramarital affair with political adviser, Corey Lewandowski made headlines, social media users noticed that there had been ongoing tensions between Kristi and Bryon.
In September 2023, a source told The New York Post that Kristi and her husband, Bryon, were no longer together. The insider mentioned that Bryon reportedly moved out of the governor’s mansion in Pierre approximately two years ago. In fact, the outlet claimed that Bryon Noem knew about the alleged extramarital affair of his wife, Kristi, with political adviser, Corey Lewandowski. At the time, The South Dakota Standard's Tom Lawrence confirmed that there was no concrete evidence regarding the Noems’ split or Bryon moving out of the mansion. Tom was quoted as saying:
"I do know that a moving van was spotted at the home at the time. There were rumours of a divorce, but when I checked at the Hamlin County Courthouse, the Stanley Courthouse and others, there was no filing on record."
Before Kristi was appointed the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Noems’ social media posts were filled with lovey-dovey pictures of the couple. For example, in May 2024, both Kristi and her husband, Bryon, took to their Instagram handles and shared love-filled pictures from their 32nd marriage anniversary. Sharing a carousel, Bryon penned a heartfelt note. In the note, Bryon called Kristi his favourite girl. He wrote, "Happy #32 to my favourite gal in the whole wide world! It's been a heckuva ride, and I'm so glad to have been on it with you. I love you dear! You bless me. Happy Anniversary."
However, everything went downhill after Kristi was sworn in as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on January 25, 2025. From missing out birthday to Valentines’ day, the duo’s social media handle got filled with pictures showcasing their respective lives. While Bryon kept his wife, Kristi, away from social media in 2025, the latter kept posting family snaps occasionally. But Bryon’s awkward pose and distance in the pictures were clearly visible. It is worth mentioning that Bryon has never publicly spoken about the rumours about his marriage to Kristi hitting a rough patch. In fact, in December 2025, he appeared in public when Kristi testified before the United States House Committee on Homeland Security. Although, he looked tired, his presence showed that he still supported her.

In 2018, when Kristi was nominated as South Dakota's first female governor, Bryon secured his place as the state's first-ever first gentleman. As per tradition, a special doll widely known as a first-spouse doll was made in honour of Bryon. However, it was Kristi’s reaction that caught a lot of attention. When Bryon was hesitant to give away his favourite suit, Kristi said:
"Oh my goodness, Bryon, they aren't going to take your actual suit. They're going to make a replica of it, like a doll size."
