As investigators try to identify the attackers and motive, attention has also turned to Baliyan’s non-musical life, including his marriage, parents and family.
According to some reports circulating online, the late Haryanvi singer was married, but his wife largely stayed away from the public spotlight. However, it can’t be verified without the family’s confirmation. There is currently no reliable public information confirming Ankit Baliyan’s wife or marital status. His immediate family has remained focused on demanding justice as the investigation into his killing continues.
Ankit Baliyan was reportedly living with his family in Bantikheda village in Shamli in the months leading up to his death. He had also spent time in Haryana, including Sonipat and Rohtak, because of his professional commitments.
Ankit’s father, Satbir Singh, is a retired soldier, while his mother, Amresh, is a homemaker. He was the elder of two brothers, with his younger brother identified as Vicky. Following the shooting, the family gathered at their ancestral home in Bantikheda as supporters and villagers demanded swift action from the authorities.
Satbir Singh has publicly called for the arrest of his son’s killer. Speaking to the media, he reportedly said, “I want the man who killed him. I don't want anything else. The protest will continue.” The family has also said that they were initially unaware of who could have targeted the singer and why.
After his death, Ankit Baliyan's sister, Anshu Baliyan, took to her Instagram handle and shared an Instagram Reel. In the clip, Anshu was seen walking with Ankit, who was flaunting his body. She wrote, "Bhai ye kya hua, subah baat bhi hui thi teri meri."
According to police, Baliyan had gone to a gym in the Aryapuri area of Shamli on August 26, 2026. At around 6:55 p.m., he reportedly stepped outside after his workout when several unidentified attackers opened fire. Police officials said three to four assailants arrived in vehicles and fired multiple rounds. Other reports have put the number of shots at around 18 to 20.
Baliyan sustained several gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby community health center, where doctors declared him dead. CCTV footage from the area is being examined as investigators attempt to reconstruct the attack and identify those involved.
Authorities are currently examining several possible angles, including old rivalries, personal disputes, and a possible contract killing. Police are also looking into an alleged social media post claiming responsibility in the name of the Gogi gang. Investigators have not publicly established the authenticity of the post or confirmed that the gang was behind Baliyan’s killing. Officials are also examining whether an earlier dispute involving Baliyan could have any connection to the shooting.
Ankit Baliyan was a popular Haryanvi singer, lyricist, actor, and content creator. He mainly built his career through music. Ankit hailed from Bantikheda village in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. He developed a passion for singing at a young age and rose to fame in the Haryanvi music industry around three years ago.
The singer was best known for his rustic style and close association with Haryanvi culture. His songs often reflected his experiences through rural life and local traditions. Ankit composed songs like Ek Khatola Jail Ke Bhitar, Bhari Court Mein Goli Maarenge, Jaat Jatni, 112 NE, System, and Riflein.
Ankit also collaborated with many popular names like Masoom Sharma, Raju Punjabi, Anjali Raghav, and Ashu Twinkle. Apart from music, he had also stepped into political vlogging and died before he could contest the next elections.
Just hours before he was shot, Ankit shared a reel on his Instagram, featuring him singing a Haryanvi song. The lyrics included the line, "Murder maar de sadak ke upar", which translates to "Murder someone right on the road". Fans described it as eerily heartbreaking, as the lyrics became particularly notable following his death because of its violent theme and the nature of the killing.
For now, Ankit Baliyan's family is waiting for answers as the investigation continues.
