Even while speaking about his health issues, Travis had his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, right by his side. Now, in a new interview, Travis revealed how he fell for Kourtney after years of friendship.
Travis Barker appeared on Billy Corgan’s The Magnificent Others podcast on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. While speaking with the host, the drummer revealed that his and Kourtney Kardashian’s lives finally aligned in 2021. He called it a ‘perfect symmetry.’ According to Travis, even when Kourtney's friends would urge her to start a relationship with him, she told them that she didn't think that would ever happen. He said:
“When it happened, it was like a perfect symmetry from both of our sides. Her friends would be like, ‘Oh, you and Trav.’ And she’d be like, ‘Ah yeah, I don’t know if that’ll ever happen.’ And people would say the same thing to me.”
Travis explained that they knew if they got together, it would be because they were madly in love with each other. And he believes that now that he and Kourtney are married, that’s exactly what happened. He said:
“We both wanted it to happen, and we knew if it did happen, it would probably be like neither of us would have a choice. We would just be overwhelmed with whatever and fall madly in love. And we did.”
Travis explained that he and Kourtney already had “such a strong foundation” after being friends for many years. So when he got together with Kourtney, it felt pretty new for him as he did not have that in his previous relationships. The Blink-182 rocker emphasized that he had already loved Kourtney as a friend. He said, “I loved her for years. It was someone who was always a friend, that I always thought about. I always was like, ‘Oh my God.’”
As their bond developed, Travis and Kourtney Kardashian tied the knot in 2022. They had three different weddings that grabbed headlines at the time. Travis and the reality star’s marriage led to a large blended family. Travis is the father of his stepdaughter, Atiana, 27, and his daughter, Alabama, 20, and son, Landon, 23. On the other hand, Kortney is a mom to sons, Mason, 16, and Rein, 11, and daughter Penelope, 14. The couple also share a son named Rocky Thirteen, who will turn 3 years old in November 2026.
In another interview with PEOPLE, Travis claimed that his relationship with Kourtney came at a time when he least expected it. He said that he was hit with an “abundance of love” from his wife. He also said that he believes the power of love is very strong and underestimated.
For those unaware, Travis was friends first with Kourtney’s sister, Kim Kardashian, whom he had met through Paris Hilton. He became friends with the entire Kardashian family after he moved to Calabasas.
The musician also revealed that it was a text that Kourtney sent him that pushed them out of the friend zone. It began when he offered a mutual guy friend some dating advice. Travis told his friend that he should have fun while hooking up with girls and think of it as a sport. He said:
“Don’t try to get emotionally invested with everyone. Try to find your bearings. And then Kourtney texted something like, ‘Why don’t you teach me how to find my bearings?’ I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ And I was scared because I thought, ‘I can’t mess this up, I can’t mess this up.’”
