Tommy DeCarlo, the lead vocalist for the rock band, Boston, tragically passed away at the age of 60. The music world suffered a huge loss as the talented singer died on March 9, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Annie, and his children, Talia & Tommy Jr. It was his family who confirmed the devastating news of his death through a Facebook post. He passed away after barely fighting brain cancer.

According to the official statement by their family, in September 2025, Tommy was diagnosed with brain cancer. Before the singer’s demise, his loved ones had set up a GoFundMe to cover the cost of his treatments. It has raised over USD 56,000 as of now. Amid the tragic loss, it was Tommy DeCarlo and Annie’s beautiful love story that caught our attention.

In 1987, when Tommy went to Florida to meet his grandparents, he met his ladylove, Annie. However, it was a chance encounter at a restaurant in Florida. At the time, Tommy was 21, and Annie was 19. Recalling their first meeting, in a past interview with Third Stage, Tommy shared that back then, they didn’t have cell phones, and thus, he wanted to know her name before she left the restaurant. He was quoted as saying:

"I met my wife back when we lived in Florida. The story is very simple, as we both ended up at the same restaurant one night. We didn't have cell phones back then. I remember wanting to know her name before she left."

On March 23, 1988, Tommy DeCarlo tied the knot with Annie. At the time, the singer was 22, and his wife, Annie, was 20. They had been married for 38 years. However, their happy marriage came to a halt after Tommy tragically passed away after fighting a battle with cancer. The couple completed their family by welcoming two children, Talia & Tommy Jr.

Tommy DeCarlo dies at the age of 60

Tommy nearly spent 20 years singing with the band, Boston. He was a die-hard fan of the band and got a chance in the group in the late-2000s. Once he shared that he grew up listening to the band as a young teenager. Tom mentioned that he loved the voice of singer, Brad Delp. The tragic news of his demise was announced by his family. Sharing a heartbreaking post on Facebook, the family wrote:

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our Dad, Tommy DeCarlo, on Monday, March 9th, 2026. After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage right up until the very end. During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family’s privacy as we grieve and support one another."

According to the GoFundMe fundraiser, Tommy DeCarlo suffered a brain bleed and underwent an emergency craniotomy in September 2025. At the time, doctors found two melanoma masses on his brain, and another was spotted on his lungs. On January 2, 2026, Tommy’s family shared an update on his health. They wrote:

"Physical therapy wasn’t easy, but our Dad was strong, determined, and a true fighter."
