Theo Burrell's family confirmed her heartbreaking passing on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The family, in an official Instagram post, confirmed that Theo passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. They revealed that neither the BBC star nor her medical team had expected things to happen so quickly. Her family called her an "incredible person" and added:
"She saw life events like her son's first day at school and her wedding that a little over 4 years ago we thought she'd never see. The cancer community provided so much comfort and strength to her in her darkest moments. But most of all, it provided hope, and I think what she would want most is for other people to find hope in her story. Hope that the statistics aren't gospel and that one day they'll be very different."
For the unversed, Theo Burrell was a Scottish antiques expert, auctioneer and television personality best known for appearing on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow. She specialised in ceramics and decorative arts. She soon became one of Antiques Roadshow's youngest experts and developed a reputation for making antiques accessible to audiences of all ages.
However, beyond the lens, Theo Burrell also had a happy family despite her ongoing battle with cancer. According to reports, she had tied the knot with her longtime partner, Alex, just four months before her passing. They tied the knot on March 28, 2026, with Theo sharing the good news with her fans on April 9, 2026.
The couple got hitched after many years together, a milestone she had once feared she would never reach following her cancer diagnosis. Theo Burrell and Alex also shared a young son named Jonah.
