However, Victoria said that Conor had not RSVP'd. She was also concerned that the singer's presence would distract attendees from her daughter's wedding. In turn, she asked them not to come. Still, they reportedly turned up at the wedding, which drew attention from guests and fans. They had gathered in the hotel lobby hoping to take pictures and get autographs. In her words:

"They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come. I responded with a very clear, 'Please do not come.'"

At the time, Paula Erikson was Taylor Swift's spokeswoman. She told the Boston Herald that the singer was invited to the wedding. Moreover, the bride had thanked Taylor for attending her wedding ceremony. Overall, the contrasting claims left the situation about the singer's presence at the wedding unclear. Meanwhile, it became a popular controversy due to Taylor's popularity, her high-profile relationship with Conor, and the Kennedy family's fame.

For those who don't know, Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy had a short-lived romance. They reportedly dated for only a few months in 2012. She was a rising music star at the time, while Conor was finishing high school. According to some reports in October 2012, they broke up due to their long-distance dynamic and demanding schedules.

The singer was preparing to release and promote her album Red while Conor stayed in Massachusetts. A source told Us Weekly that the pair did not see each other for more than a month due to their demanding work, and they parted ways without any hard feelings. Some insiders also claimed that Taylor had purchased a USD 4.9 million property in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, to stay near the Kennedy family. But these reports were never confirmed.
