Recently, Sunita Ahuja was evicted from the show. Ahead of her eviction, her husband, Govinda and their daughter, Tina Ahuja, came to the show, Lock Upp 2. After her exit from Lock Upp 2, in an interview, Sunita opened up about her tumultuous married life with Govinda and reaffirmed her commitment towards him.
In a recent interview with Free Press Journal, Sunita Ahuja shared that her relationship with her husband, Govinda, has stood the test of time. Sunita mentioned that they cannot live without each other. Explaining it further, Sunita said that she even told Lock Upp 2 wildcard contestant, Shilpa Shinde, that Govinda is hers and she will stay with him till her last breath. She emphasised that spending 40 years with Govinda was no joke. In her words:
"Look, we are still together. We cannot live without each other. I even told Shilpa Shinde, 'He is my husband, and I will never leave him till my last breath, no matter what he does.' We have spent 40 years together, and that’s not a joke. Surviving in the film industry for so many years itself is a huge achievement. But we are still together, and we love each other."
In the same interview, Sunita got candid about her husband, Govinda’s infidelity. She mentioned that trust is the biggest thing in a relationship. Sunita then explained that she doesn’t think any hero in the film industry is completely innocent. Recalling the time when she fell in love with Bollywood actor Govinda, Sunita shared that she was just 15. Over the years, she had forgiven Govinda many times. In her words:
"Trust is the biggest thing. I don’t think any hero in the film industry is completely innocent because they spend more time with their heroines than with us. It all depends on how much faith you have in your love and how you choose to deal with it. I have always said that to become an actor’s wife, you need to have a heart of stone. I fell in love with Govinda when I was 15; today I am 56, and I still love him. I have forgiven him so many times. When love is real, you forgive and move forward."
Sunita and Govinda have been married since 1987. Sunita’s sister married Govinda’s maternal uncle, and at that time, Sunita met him. Back then, Govinda was in his final year of B.Com, and she was in class 9. Recalling their first meet, Sunita said on the Time Out with Ankit podcast:
"My sister married his maternal uncle, and I saw him for the first time at their wedding. He was in his final year of B.Com and I was in Class 9. My brother-in-law told me that Govinda was from Virar, a simple man who loved his mother a lot. He also mentioned that no girl could impress him. I remember wondering what kind of boy he was, that no girl could impress him. When I told my brother-in-law I could, he said it was impossible. So, I asked him what if I did, and he challenged me to prove it first."
