CNN correspondent, Stephanie Elam has ended her 20-year-long career with CNN. Apart from her fans being upset, Stephanie's farewell video from CNN has surfaced on social media. The emotional on-air farewell was given to Stephanie by her longtime colleague and friend, CNN News Central co-anchor, Sara Sidner. Sara had connected with Stephanie via satellite and gave her the most emotional farewell.
A video shared by Sara Sidner was posted on Stephanie Elam's social media feed, which was captioned like, after more than 20 years in CNN’s orbit – first in NYC and then in LA – Stephanie’s time at the network has come to a close. Naturally, her last time on the air was with Sara. As a true friend, she had taken a moment to give due respect and credit to her friend and colleague who helped Sara both on and off air. She has been a supportive friend throughout Sara's breast cancer journey. Sara told Stephanie:
"Stephanie, I know you have some news of your own. You are leaving us. Everyone here is sad to see it. From your exuberant coverage of the eclipse to the difficult coverage of the fires and the protests that we have been in throughout the years together, I want to say thank you for being my friend, helping me through cancer, and being a sister.”
Stephanie Elam was seen wearing a green-hued formal top. Sara became emotional and told Stephanie that she had been like a sister. Sara credited CNN with bringing them together and revealed that nothing will tear them apart. Sara thanked Stephanie for all her efforts, who thanked the entire CNN team for the 20 golden years and said:
"Oh, you’re not getting get rid of me. I love you. I love all you guys on ‘Central.’ Every stage manager, everyone there, I love you guys. It’s been a joy working with you all. You know we’ll be hanging. Thank you, Steph."
In her final report, Stephanie Elam told CNN that she has done it all. Fans became emotional seeing her farewell video. One user commented, "It was always such a joy to see you representing Howard on CNN! Congratulations on an amazing career at CNN and much success in your next endeavours! Always Alpha Excellence. True professionalism, class and style. Only the best ahead for you." Another user wrote, "Take a bow! Job well done! We will miss you around these parts," while a third one said:
"Sending you love and light! Thank you for all that you did in front of the camera and the encouragement you’ve given so many of us behind the scenes! And you both are wearing pink and green! Much success on your next chapter Soror sista friend. Pure perfection. You stuck with me 4L! Love you always! Top notch reporting, kind human with the biggest heart. Can't wait to see your next chapter Stephanie!"
For those who do not know, Stephanie Elam was based in New York from 2003 to 2011. She played the role of a business correspondent for CNN, HLN and CNN International, according to a Variety report. It was in 2013 when she rejoined the network and covered varied news events such as Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano, the demise of music icon Prince. Stephanie and Sidner had also covered the death news of their dear friend and ex MTV personality, Ananda Lewis.
