In the latest development of the case, two men have been taken into custody amid an ongoing crime investigation. Sonia was all set to celebrate her 30th birthday, and when she left to meet her "mystery boyfriend," she never came back.
It was in a remote area of Saint-Gilles that a farmer had discovered TikTok influencer Sonia Bellina's body. Her family filed a missing persons complaint after she went missing. Now, the latest update is that two men have been arrested in relation to her alleged murder. Cecile Gensac, who is the Nîmes public prosecutor leading the inquiry, stated:
"They were arrested due to evidence suggesting their participation in the events, whether directly or indirectly. The body was found lying between rows of vines. It was partially burned, in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence."
TikTok influencer Sonia Bellina's alleged murderers have been kept at a very secure police station. They are also being questioned by magistrates, and detectives are also involved in the case.
The two men who have been arrested in the Sonia Bellina murder case have not been named. It was reported that they are from the Nîmes area. Sonia's body was identified via DNA testing, as it was naked and partially burnt. Another investigating source shared that Sonia reportedly went to meet a mystery boyfriend on the night of her death. Sonia Bellina was all geared up to celebrate her 30th birthday when she suddenly disappeared.
Sonia Bellina has more than a million followers on TikTok and is known for sharing details about her life across various social media platforms. Her sister, Mia, recalled the events and said Sonia had said she was going out one evening and never came back. Mia also stated that Sonia may have ''run into the wrong guy at the wrong time'' and, in an interview, stated:
"I never thought something like this would happen to our family, especially since she was such a radiant, kind person whom everyone loved. I am shocked to be living in such a cruel world. This is a terrible injustice. We don’t deserve to go through this."
Sonia Bellina's sister also stated that the location-sharing feature was active on her phone, through which she was traced. Her family was getting ready for her birthday and had also planned a party. Sonia Bellina's sister also slammed people who were commenting negatively on her and said:
"People are going too far; it’s awful, and they’re spouting nonsense. It’s harassment; some are even saying she deserved what happened to her. We ask people to respect our grief and let our sister rest in peace.”
Sonia Bellina's family had earlier stated that they believed that it was her body. According to social media reports, Sonia had breast implants, which helped in the identification of the body, and was seen wearing a ring. Her body was found around 450 miles south of Paris between rows of vines.
For the unversed, French authorities are fully working on the murder investigation after an agricultural worker discovered the partially charred, unclothed body of Sonia near Nîmes. Bellina, who lived between Paris and Nîmes, built a following of nearly 380,000 users across two TikTok accounts and 13,000 followers on Instagram. Family members have pushed back against online speculation regarding Bellina’s personal life and background, pleading for privacy as the investigation unfolds.
