'Single Papa', starring Kunal Kemmu and Prajakta Koli has been renewed for another season. Amid that, read on to know how did Season 1 end.
Single Papa, which was released on December 12, 2025, grabbed a lot of attention for its unique narrative and humour. After the release, viewers appreciated the strong screen presence of Kunal Kemmu, Prajakta Koli and Neha Dhupia. Well, now after a successful run, the show is all set to return with season 2. Amid that, read on to know how season 1 of Single Papa ended.
Single Papa, created by Neeraj Udhwani and Ishita Moitra, follows 'Gaurav Gehlot', a privileged yet immature man. The show begins with 'Gaurav' (Kunal Kemmu) and his wife, 'Aparna' (Isha Talwar) getting a divorce. The reason for the same was that 'Aparna' was fed up with 'Gaurav's' wish to have a child, even when he himself is an immature guy. Later, 'Gaurav' finds a baby abandoned in the backseat of his car, in a carton of Amul.
Even though ‘Gaurav’ is hesitant in the beginning, he brings the baby home and names him ‘Amul’. Later, due to health issues, he takes the baby to hospital, from where 'Amul' is taken by an adoption home. However, 'Gaurav' soon realises his bond with the baby and decides to adopt the baby. But 'Romila Nehra' (Neha Dhupia) is 'Gaurav's' biggest obstacle. She is a strict chairperson of the adoption board, who believes that single men should not be given children.
When 'Gaurav' shared his decision to adopt the baby at home, his entire family stood up against him. Because of which he is supposed to leave the house. So he moves out to a house next to his family. In his new house, he includes all the necessary things required to be a better parent. After which, he fills the form of adoption. During the same period, he also tries to become more responsible by getting a job. On the other hand, 'Gaurav' also handles his sister, 'Namrata' (Prajakta Koli) and her to-be-in-laws as they should not get to know about the adoption until her marriage.
As the show moves ahead, 'Gaurav' is granted the permission to adopt 'Amul', but on a trial basis. The authorities explain to him that if he is able to take care of the baby for three months, only then he will get custody. However, to get the same permission, 'Gaurav' lied to everyone that his sister, 'Namrata' will never get married. This starts the chaotic and fun ride. During the three-month trial period, 'Gaurav' also hires a male nanny, 'Parbat Singh' (Dayanand Shetty).
Towards the end of the show, ‘Namrata’s’ future in-laws get to know about the adoption and they cancel the wedding. However, ‘Gaurav’ convinces ‘Namrata’s’ to-be-husband, ‘Goldie’ (Ankur Rathee) to take a stand for her. Later, ‘Goldie’ convinces his family and the two get married.
However, on the day of their wedding, ‘Romila Nehra’ arrives with police officers and records the wedding. She further accuses ‘Gaurav’ of lying to the authorities and takes ‘Amul’ with her. However, when the baby says papa in front of her, she realises ‘Gaurav’s’ love and care. And she lets him adopt the baby. Season 1 ends with ‘Namrata’s’ wedding to ‘Goldie’ and ‘Gaurav’s’ family accepting the baby.
On January 5, 2026, Netflix took to their Instagram handle to announce another season of the comedy-drama. It is worth mentioning that the release date wasn’t revealed. While the cast has not been confirmed, some reports suggest that season 2 will bring back the original cast including Kunal Kemmu, Prajakta Koli, Manoj Pahwa, Ayesha Raza, Aisha Ahmed, Neha Dhupia and more.
