If reports are to be believed, Shafaq and Avinash first met while shooting an episode of the show, Teri Meri Love Stories in 2012. In the show, Avinash played the role of 'Ishan', whereas Shafaq essayed the role of 'Pari'. During the shoot, the two became friends and built a strong bond. At that time, a few sources confirmed that Avinash and Shafaq fell in love with each other during the shoot and had started dating. However, the ex-couple kept their relationship private.
Despite having a strong and intense connection, Avinash Sachdev never publicly confirmed his romance with Shafaq. In a 2023 interview with ETimes, he denied having any bond with Shafaq. Eventually, it was revealed that Shafaq Naaz was completely heartbroken as Avinash denied having any bond with her. Avinash Sachdev was quoted as saying:
"There's nothing like this, humari industry mein kuch bhi nahi chupta hai... had I dated Shafaq Naaz, the news would have been out because I had just wrapped up Choti Bahu and was going through a breakup with Rubina Dilaik. Agar aisi koi cheez hoti humare beech mein, toh kya aap ko lagta hai, ye news bachti bahar aane se."
Soon after Avinash Sachdev’s 2023 interview, Shafaq Naaz sat down for a candid conversation and revealed that she was hurt by the actor’s statement. She explained that Avinash should have respected their relationship and not lied about it. During the conversation, the actress also confirmed their romance and shared that they dated for six months. In her words:
"Avinash should have respected the dignity of our relationship and not trivialised my feelings by lying. Being in a relationship is not something to feel ashamed of. Probably, he has dated many people, so our relationship may have slipped his mind, but I remember it clearly since it was my first serious relationship and heartbreak."
During the same interview, Shafaq Naaz also opened up about their relationship. She shared that the actor randomly ghosted her without giving any reason. The now-married actress revealed that Avinash probably got back with his ex-girlfriend. It is worth mentioning that the exact reason behind their breakup is unknown as Avinash never accepted dating her. Shafaq Naaz shared:
"He had just got out of a long relationship and we were together for about six months. Towards the end, when he stopped talking to me without any reason, I assumed he had reconciled with his ex. He ghosted me. Back then, social media wasn’t as active, making it easier to keep things under wraps. I can laugh about it today, but back then, it affected me."
Years later, in 2023, Avinash and Shafaq's relationship made headlines when the former participated in Bigg Boss OTT 2. During the show, he met Shafaq's elder sister, Falaq and formed a romantic connection. The two hogged the limelight both inside and outside the Bigg Boss house. It is worth noting that in the show, Avinash had once confessed that he started having feelings for Falaq. After the show ended, Avinash mentioned that he had met Falaq's family and they used to spend time together.
