Serayah and Jacob Latimore initially crossed paths at the 2016 BET Awards. Notably, the actor recognized Serayah from her role on Empire. While they tried to keep their romance out of the spotlight, their relationship became more public when they shared their first impressions of each other on BET's Millennial Love Stories series in 2022.
In 2023, Serayah spoke about her breakup with Jacob Latimore after dating rumors connected her to Joey Bada$$. She confirmed that she and the actor were no longer together, noting that the separation was natural and amicable. In a statement given to The Shade Room, she said they had simply grown apart and that she continued to respect his journey.
She elaborated further during her appearance on The Morning Hustle in September 2025, clarifying that they do not maintain a friendship. She also addressed Latimore's viral "Residuals" challenge where he appeared to reflect on their past, mentioning that she had not seen it herself until a friend forwarded it to her.
Looking back, during her July 2026 interview on The Jason Lee Show, Serayah explained what led to the end of their relationship that lasted around three to four years. She said that as she approached 30, she started questioning where things were headed, while he was comfortable keeping it casual, which was not what she wanted.
Serayah also shared that she was growing and seeking more commitment, adding that they had a strong friendship that eventually expired. She also observed that men can expect a lot without providing security, and that as a woman matures, especially after 25, she begins to question if she wants to keep living like a couple without any real commitment or future plans.
Despite the breakup, Serayah stressed there was no animosity between her and Jacob Latimore. She told The Morning Hustle hosts Lore'l and Kyle Santillian in 2025 that she hoped he was focused on his own happiness and whatever was right for him at the time, and that she wished him only the best.
She also made it clear that she has moved on. In June 2025, she and Joey Bada$$ welcomed their first child, a baby boy. In a two-month postpartum update, she said she was still in disbelief about becoming a mother, adding that she prays for her growing family every day, describing motherhood as her greatest accomplishment so far. She confirmed that she and Joey are engaged, praising him for being consistently supportive.
When Jason Lee suggested during his interview with Serayah that Latimore's Leo sign might have contributed to the split, she steered the conversation back to her own clarity about what she wants. She said that she has always been clear about her goals. She further stated that when things do not feel right, she communicates it, and if they are not on the same page, she chooses to walk away, a sense of commitment she believes she has now found in the father of her child.
