Reports state that she punched one flight attendant and bit another after she tried to open the plane’s door in the middle of the flight. Selma has been arrested following the incident, which took place on October 11, 2026.
While Selma Blair’s attempt to physically assault the flight attendants has left fans talking, it is worth mentioning that the actress herself was a victim of assault in her personal life.
Selma Blair has endured some pretty challenging moments in her life, including when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018. However, on February 25, 2022, the actress filed for a protective order against her ex-boyfriend, Ronald Carlson, claiming that he had physically attacked her.
Selma and Ronald had dated for nearly 7 years before the actress made the claims. Court documents obtained by the media at the time showed that Ronald was at her home returning a TV set while Selma had just finished multiple sclerosis treatment a few minutes earlier, leaving her extremely weak.
After they finished returning their respective keys to one another, Selma told her ex-boyfriend that she wasn't feeling well. In response, Ronald Carlson allegedly verbally assaulted her, telling her that she is “useless” and adding, “I don't fucking deserve this, I can do so much better than you.”
Selma Blair claimed that Ronald then “became enraged.” He attacked her by “jumping on top of her body while she was lying prone on the sofa.” As the assault continued, the actress tried to call her housekeeper for help but to no avail. Selma even lost consciousness for a short while as their physical struggle ensued.
Ultimately, when Ronald Carlson left, Selma called the Los Angeles Police Department. Her nose began bleeding while she was speaking with the officers, and she passed out once again. The actress had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
Ronald was later arrested on a felony charge of domestic violence with corporal injuries. A 5-day protective order was placed against him by the LAPD. While he tried to file for his own restraining order, it was denied.
Selma Blair briefly addressed the incident in her memoir Mean Baby. She called it shocking and said that she wanted to put it behind her. In her words:
"It was the most shocking thing. After I'd finished the book, I honestly thought, 'Well, that's the dramatic portion of my life. That's done.' He was charged with a felony. I look forward to it being behind me."
Selma Blair was granted a restraining order in March 2022. Age said that she wanted to focus on the positive following this and what her future held. She said, “I'm in a good place. I cannot believe all this happened in my life, and I'm still here and I'm okay.”
According to a dispatch audio, after Selma had allegedly assaulted the flight attendants, officials had requested medical personnel at the gate. The Port Authority of New York revealed that two flight attendants reported injuries and one was taken to the hospital. Selma Blair was taken to the hospital for evaluation after being arrested. The FBI is currently looking into the “potential assault.”
When Selma Blair was being transported to Jamaica Hospital after she bashed her head on the bulkhead, she allegedly kicked a PAPD officer. A source for CBS News said that the actress also allegedly assaulted a nurse after reaching the hospital. While Selma remains in custody, her attorney explained her behavior on the flight and said:
"Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition."
