Savannah Guthrie's colleagues, Sheinelle Jones and Bush Hager, who are now her friends, have shared how their bond deepened after Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.
Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy, has been nowhere to be found since she mysteriously disappeared from her Arizona home on February 1, 2026. Savannah has resumed the TODAY show, which has been like a family to her. When she needed her co-workers' help, Sheinelle Jones and Bush Hager always stood by her.
For the unversed, when Sheinelle Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, got diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2023, Savannah Guthrie stood for Uche. He had a form of brain cancer which took his life. When Savannah's mom, Nancy, vanished from her Arizona home, her TODAY family stepped up to show the support Savannah needed.
Savannah Guthrie's friend, Sheinelle Jones, in an interview with Page Six, revealed that they will be rallying around their sister, Savannah. Sheinelle shared that Savannah rallied around her when she had a bad time, so now they were there to support her. Savannah Guthrie's friend, Sheinelle Jones, is a mother to sons Kayin, aged 16, and Uche Jr., aged 13. She also has a daughter called Clara, and has now been the source of support for her colleague, Savannah. Well, the shocking news of Savannah's mom's disappearance came two weeks post the premiere of Jenna & Sheinelle, a.k.a the fourth hour of the TODAY show. Sheinelle remembered how Savannah was there for her during tough times and shared:
“There was one day, Savannah came up to the hospital, and she said, ‘You need to get out of here. We went to this little restaurant around the corner from the hospital and had margaritas, and I said, ‘You were my oxygen for the day, and sometimes I never know where my oxygen’s going to come from.’”
Savannah Guthrie's friend, Sheinelle Jones, had earlier acknowledged that the launch of a new show during their tough period had changed the way they looked at their job. The ratings of their show has raked 30% up, but Bush did note that Savannah's heart was broken. Bush shared she did not have time to worry about my hair or whether she was being funny when the mother of her friend went missing. In her words:
"[Savannah’s] heart is broken and we love her. In any other matrix, it would’ve just been about us and the show. It continues to bond us in ways we can’t even describe or make sense of. What’s beautiful about our hour is that you can’t fake it. We don’t have the news to fall back on. Our conversations have to be emotional and connected to what we’re actually going through.”
For the unversed, Hoda Kotb left TODAY back in 2025 and temporarily returned to the show's news desk. She was seen with Craig Melvin while covering developments in the case. Bush and Sheinelle were earlier seen discussing about the emotional impact related to Savannah's absence.
Savannah Guthrie's colleague, Bush Hager, further revealed in the interview how her bond with the TODAY show news anchor strengthened. She shared that after Nancy disappeared, she bonded with Bush in ways she could not even describe or make sense of. Bush shared that she would have felt very dishonest if she had not acknowledged what was happening. In her words:
"Every day we were thinking about her. How could we not talk about it? It was what was happening off-camera. We’re not going to act like things are OK if they’re not. We’re bringing ourselves to the audience. It was a really hard time because we adore her so much, and it still is. We understand how lucky we are to work at a place where people really care about each other. If our sister’s heart is broken, ours is too."
Bush Hager then shared that her dad, former President George W. Bush, often pulls her leg and tells her about how close the TODAY show team has come. She revealed her dad always asks about her TODAY family. When Bush was asked if what happened to Savannah's family made them worrisome related to their safety and families, she dismissed the same. Savannah Guthrie's colleague, Bush Hager, shared that she is not worried about one person. Bush shared that when Sheinelle was going through what she was going through, they were not thinking if this happened to them. Bush revealed that they were all worried for Savannah and for the kids. They thought about how they could send them food, or how they could help. Savannah's mom is nowhere to be found, but the hunt seems to go on as there is light at the end of the tunnel.
