Savannah Guthrie Files Police Complaint After YouTuber Streams Outside Her Mother's Home

Savannah Guthrie contacted law enforcement in June 2026 after learning that a controversial YouTube personality was streaming live outside her mother's home.

After months of uncertainty, Nancy Guthrie's missing-person case has taken a new turn following police records that revealed an unexpected update. According to the records, Today co-host, Savannah Guthrie, had contacted cops owing to the presence of a controversial YouTuber outside her missing mother's home in Arizona. The content creator was identified as Alex Zabel, who has been the subject of controversy for his coverage of true crimes. Let us know all about him.

Savannah Guthrie has filed a complaint against Alex Zabel's presence outside her mother's home 

Alexander Zabel Jr, better known as Alex Zabel, is an American online content creator. He is best known for working on his YouTube channel, Criminal Network. His videos mainly focus on true-crime cases, missing-person investigations, and the livestreaming of active criminal cases. Alex especially rose to fame after Nancy's disappearance in February 2026. He made several videos around it. In fact, initially, Alex also encouraged volunteers to help search for the missing 84-year-old.

But eventually, most of his content shifted towards livestreams and real-time discussions about the case. In turn, it brought him both supporters and critics. Now, according to police records obtained by TMZ, Savannah Guthrie contacted the authorities on June 11, 2026, after learning that Alex was allegedly livestreaming outside her missing mother's home. For those unaware, it was the same place where Nancy disappeared.

Police documents also stated that Savannah was listed as one of the responsible parties connected to the property. In turn, she was "extremely upset" when she found out that the YouTuber had returned to the neighbourhood. Authorities also mentioned that she has frequently expressed her concerns about the activities of many online true-crime creators who gathered outside that home. In turn, the complaint was forwarded to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which was already responding to the location. For those unaware, the YouTuber was arrested twice earlier for creating public disturbances in the area.

Former FBI agent believes the investigation is in progress 

Although the authorities have mostly been silent about the status of the case, former FBI Special Agent, Maureen O'Connell recently suggested that they may be making meaningful progress behind the scenes. She further explained that investigators could be getting closer to finding the mysterious masked individual often called the "porch guy", who was seen in the surveillance footage outside Nancy Guthrie's home when she disappeared.

According to Maureen, long investigations do not indicate a lack of evidence. Instead, she explained that the investigators often spend months building a case strong enough to withstand a courtroom challenge. The former FBI agent explained that prosecutors typically make every possible defence strategy before the charges are filed. So, she believes that authorities might already have significant evidence.

Contrasting reports over ransom notes in the Nancy Guthrie case have added to the confusion

Nancy Guthrie's case investigation has become more complicated after reports around her alleged ransom notes linked to her disappearance went viral. Initially, reports claimed that investigators believed two ransom notes were authentic. One of them demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin and mentioned that Nancy was "safe but scared". In contrast, another note suggested that she died and asked for payment in return for the details about her remains. Meanwhile, according to media outlets, the FBI considered some communication credible, but the note did not clearly confirm whether she is dead.
