In his personal life, Ray Adams was married to singer, songwriter, and actress Mandy Moore. Here’s what went wrong in their marriage.
Ray Adams and Mandy Moore reportedly began dating in 2007. However, Adams denied their romance in 2008. Later, in February 2009, the couple made headlines as Adams went down on one knee to propose to Mandy. The representatives of Mandy and Adams confirmed to US Weekly in March 2009 that the duo tied the knot in Savannah, Georgia. At the age of 25, Mandy got married to Adams.
Shortly after getting married, Mandy Moore told Entertainment Weekly about her musical connection with Adams. Opening up about collaborations, A Walk to Remember actress said:
"That’s definitely a common interest between the two of us. There’s always music playing in the house or being written. It’s nice to be able to share that with one another, and share new things that we discover and find. Usually it’s him introducing me to something. We certainly have done that at home, writing together — it just organically happens."
The former pair were head over heels in love with each other. Back in August 2014, Mandy adopted pets, and Adams also loved them. Opening up about their shared interest, Mandy told US Weekly, "I’m lucky to be married to somebody who feels the same way. We have our own little zoo happening right now. There’s no way to have a connection with my husband because there are always animals in between us!" Later, in January 2015, the two announced their split.
According to reports, Adams filed for divorce from Mandy on January 23, 2015. However, the date of separation as listed in the legal document was August 14, 2014. Speaking about their split, a source told People that long before Adams filed for divorce, they called it quits. The insider was quoted as saying:
"They split forever ago. Their friends all knew. They honestly hadn’t seen each other in forever. There came a point where they almost never did. She got married so young, and even though the age difference wasn’t huge, it was still tough on the relationship. They really were just two very different people. He’s such an introvert, and she may not want her life out there every day, but she’s so sweet and friendly and social. Total opposites."
Later, in 2019, Mandy reportedly accused Ray Adams of harassment and emotional abuse. Shortly after the Times story showing Mandy hurling accusations came to light, Adams addressed the allegation. In one of the tweets, Adams wrote:
"As someone who has always tried to spread joy through my music and my life, hearing that some people believe I caused them pain saddens me greatly. I am resolved to work to be the best man I can be. And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing."
He concluded the tweet, writing, "But the picture that this article paints is upsettingly inaccurate. Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false. I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. I am not a perfect man, and I have made many mistakes. To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly."
