Meet US Congressman Ro Khanna's wife, Ritu Khanna

US Congressman Ro Khanna is married to Ritu Khanna. She is an Indian American and works as an entrepreneur. While little is known about how they met, Ro and Ritu tied the knot in 2015 in Cleveland. The couple has two children, Zara and Soren. At the time of their marriage, Ritu worked in marketing for the Italian jewellery company Bulgari. 

Talking about her personal life, Ritu Khanna is the daughter of Monte Ahuja, who founded Transtar in 1975. For the uninitiated, it is an automotive transmission parts supplier in Solon, Ohio. The Monte Ahuja College of Business is also named after Ritu's father. Ritu is often seen supporting her husband during campaigns. During one such instance, she was quoted as saying:

"I'm proud of the relationship we've built. Recently, Ro and I had the opportunity to share with someone the story of how we met and the path that led us to where we are today."

For the unversed, Ro Khanna is an Indian-origin lawmaker who has represented California's 17th congressional district in the US House of Representatives since 2017. Rohit Khanna, commonly known as Ro Khanna, was born in Philadelphia on September 13, 1976, to Indian immigrant parents from a Punjabi Hindu family. According to reports, his parents moved to the United States in the 1970s.

Reports revealed that while his father was a chemical engineer who studied at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and later at the University of Michigan, his mother worked as a schoolteacher. Today, Ro is considered one of the richest members of Congress, with a massive net worth of USD 232 million, most of which is held by his wife in family trusts.

US Congressman Ro Khanna detained by Israeli settlers

It was on July 11, 2026 (ET), when the news went rife that US Congressman Ro Khanna was detained by Israeli settlers armed with US-made rifles. The incident took place during his visit to the West Bank earlier this week. He revealed that he cast an unfiltered look at the human toll of Israeli occupation as he weighs a 2028 presidential run. The US Congressman spoke with Reuters about what he observed.

US Congressman Ro Khanna, in a Palestinian village, said his group's van was surrounded by settlers wielding M4 rifles on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, while touring a part of the southern West Bank where residents face frequent settler attacks. He spoke with the media outlet and revealed that during the visit, they saw destroyed schools and villages.

However, their trip took a turn when Israeli settlers surrounded them. He recalled the incident and was quoted as saying:

"We were at a village that Israeli settlers had destroyed; they had destroyed the school, they had destroyed that village, and we were just looking at it. And these hoodlums come in with machine guns: M4, an American-made machine gun, and they detain us. They block off the road. And then they call the IDF, and the IDF is on their side, not on the side of the Americans."
